I think you got a real steal by getting Chambers at #57.

Pros: Very quick, extremely good skills, good mark for his size and a natural goal kicker.

Cons: Offensively minded, pretty much the epitome of an ''outside" player and used to struggle on the road (something which is rather less of an issue when you don't play 10 games a year interstate..)

He's not a total midfielder but he is a very classy player, and imo was the better of the two midfielders (him and Morrison) who we traded away. There just simply wasn't room in our midfield for him behind Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher, Embley and Braun.
When you look at his stat lines, keep in mind that most games with us he played around 20-25 minutes tops in short bursts off the bench. On some of the occasions when he was asked to play a larger role he fired in a big way, and has had a number of 25-30 disposal games in that situation.

If he gets more of an opportunity at Carlton, I think he may very well increase his production to those kind of levels on a weekly basis- as a WC fan I think you got him on the cheap but I'd be very happy to see him develop into a top-liner, because he certainly does not lack for talent.

Mead, just wondering on Chambers, what is his skill set? Left/Right side or both sides of the body?

He's pretty left (i think..) sided.

Certainly, though, his foot skills are by far the best feature of his game- very good disposal on the run and a good set shot for goals. Not sure about his depth- if he has a trademark about his game it would be a 30-40m low spearing pass onto a forward's chest.

Pretty happy with the Blues acquistions. Our top 4 midfielders - Kouta, Stevens, Campo and Scotland are excellent, but Harford and Johnson lack abit esp pace. Hopefully either Chambers or Longmuir will fill the hole. I'm sure Pagan will be able to turn their careers around. We've got a fantastic group of young highly talented, tall 6"3-6"4 running players (i.e. Walker, Waite, Norman, Fisher) who could also play a role in the midfield. Probably in a minority here, but I'm pleased Lance has stayed with the Blues. Hopefully his attitude improves once he gets over his knee injury and regains some fitness. In terms of raw talent, Lance is way ahead on Ottens or Simmonds. Pagan's aiming to get some balance in this young developing team. Further clever recruiting will hopefully make the most of our draft picks. Setanta is our wild card. Have a feeling the Irishman will make a serious impact in 2005. Exciting times ahead for the Blues. :)

no , im with you parrot... im also glad lance has stayed a navy blue, as i believe he has given the club great service...

also, this may be his biggest wake up call, and hopefully after this weeks trade week and everything that he has been put through, will train harder, present better and play better for the club..

who knows... may be a different lance we see out there next season

im rapt that Lance will be with Carlton in the future. For the value of some of the trades that were being touted, he would've been grossly undervalued.

We are talking about a CHF who was AA twice and who kicked 80+ goals in past years in a single season. Credentials like that cannot be ignored. If only he can now get used to Denis' game plan

Mead, Mead, Mead.

I'm a little shocked at that comment knowing the calibre of your football knowledge.

He's most definitely a right footer, but is also very skilled on the left. In fact he's kicked many goals on the run with the left.

A good pickup by Carlton.
