Re: Congratulations Pies

I'm tipping the Dogs in the next encounter. We can't lean on that kind of luck twice...
There wasn't any luck involved. Collingwood were down on season average of possessions, marks, and inside-50's, while the Bulldogs were up in all three on their season averages. Our leading goalkicker Jack Anthony as well as Travis Cloke didn't contribute on the scoreboard, so Collingwood can play better than that, and the lesson learnt is that maybe two ruckmen are needed against this team next time because the Bulldogs got going when Josh Fraser went off the ground. It was a good win on a ground that the Bulldogs use better though, but it would be nice to play them on the M.C.G again some day.

All that I agree with. The 'luck' I meant is essentially the same with any game that ends with a score decided by less than a goal. If two of those last-minute kicks by the Doggies went through, it would've been them celebrating. So yeah, I do mean it was a lucky win!

So I'm hoping that next time we could push them a little harder in a situation like that and perhaps only concede 2-3 goals before we level off and finish with a ~20 point victory. The Dogs are too good to have us beat them by 40+ points but we certainly could have kept it to a 2-3 goal buffer.

EDIT: Both Bucks and Cometti will back up my statement :D

We had some terrible misses as well. Poor Cloke again from 30 in front. :o

One of the most famous examples is how hard people like Tiger Woods used to practice golf and I remember Greg Norman used to hit something like a 1000 golf balls everyday. I'm not sure of his training schedule, but does Trav even do extra practice at set shots? I mean if I were in his shoes I'd know that set shots would be my weakness and I'd be out there all the time in my own time just practicing, practicing, practicing.

I was worried about last quarter as i went to Bulldogs v Geelong game and the dogs smashed Geelong in the last quarter.
It was a similar game in some sense and a similar result.
Geelong dominated early and Dogs came back
Only problem is Dogs should have beaten Geelong if Brad Johnson kicked the goal after the siren.

It's good to see some good sportsmen amongst losing fans in a close game and respect from both sides. Thank christ no-one is crapping on about being robbed by the umpires.

F*** these pack of scum, this shits gotta stop, you think they would have started a thread saying congrats Dogs, not a chance, they'd be sooking about the umpires or some bulls**t.

Thats my opinion and im entitled to it.

The numerous Bullies fans who have visited the Collingwood board to offer their congratulations are being gracious in the face of a disappointing 1 point loss - some humility from the winners would be good form.

Yes - it is disappointing when morons come over here and mouth off: they embarrass us all. As for the discussion between two pies supporters - there are tons of threads on here for chest beating. Perhaps I'm being too sensitive - any loss hurts!:(

Good luck for the remainder of the season - let's hope we play off in the Big Show.

What on earth are you on about? My response was to a post from a Collingwood supporter, not you, and I will again say that was not any luck involved. I believe that people make their own luck, but if you disagree, then that that is your choice. I most certainly did not say anything in my post that should have offended anybody at all, and I absolutely stand by my comments.

Now if you want to talk about a bad sport, then Rodney Eade was a terrible loser in his press conference. All he did was make excuses and mention the mistakes of his team without once acknowledging Collingwood, and I hope the club took note of it. On the other hand, Dane Swan, Nick Maxwell and Mick Malthouse were very humble and respectful in victory.

Yes of course that is all it was. It seems that you recognised the obvious.

Eade was clearly out-coached so his press conference performance was poor form.

As for luck - I agree that people make their own luck. I perceived a lack of humility in your post - implying that Collingwood had a down night (their key stats down) and the Bullies had a good night (their key stats all up) and yet you didn't mention that the Dogs were coming off a six day break. We can both argue till the cows come home but the bottom line is Collingwood were fortunate to win, although they certainly deserved to win.

Just relax - I over-reacted and acknowledged as much in my last post. Sorry if I offended.

Re: Congratulations Pies

Flattering or not, how did we just concede 5.4 so quickly after owning the match so long? Because the Doggies are dangerous. Finals football just became all the more interesting this year...

Hmm 5.4 nice number.

Well done by the Pies you deserved to win.
