Have to say I was very impressed by Dawes. Still a long way to go for him to justify being taken so high, but pretty good. Apparently you guys were planning on taking Shaun Grigg with the pick you took Dawes at. I would much rather Grigg, but if he plays like that every week, may have to change my opinion.

He wasn't taken that high and draft history is just that history. He doesn't have to prove he is better than Grigg, he has to prove he is good enough to be on our list.

Cheers to all the Adelaide (and other club) supporters posting here - shows some great character to post that sort of stuff so close to the emotion. :thumbsu:

I was sitting in the Northern Stand today with my wife, outside of about 3 fellow Pies supporters behind us we were completely outnumbered. I thought we were going to get skinned alive when we were on the good end of a couple of dubious decisions early in the third (however all Crows frees were there, well that's what everyone around me thought) and there was plenty of steam exiting the ears of those around me.

I will say though that two seperate Crows supporters that walked past me as they were leaving were very gracious in defeat and wished me all the best and I was pretty vocal throughout the day (however being very careful to limit it only to Collingwood and the umpires). I just thought I'd put that out there as it was a pleasant surprise.

Great game though - Go you Pies!!!!

I'm an Adelaide supporter. Just wishing you guys the best of luck for the rest of the finals. Another prelim final from outside the top 4. Well I think you guys can beat St Kilda next week at the G (not sure about Geelong though). Remember no 8th placed team has gone past week 2 of the finals.

This might be a bit harsh having a pot shot at you after you've been so gracious but I read your posts before the game you are a very paranoid supporter. To me predicting a loss before the game is very weak of you and when it happens all you say is "I told you so" and if you win you'd just turn around and say "I'm happy to be wrong". Grow a pair and support your team, sure you can criticise it but I hate seeing the level of pessimism you showed prior to the bounce today.

You have to remember that Dawes is essentially 12 months behind Grigg in terms of development. Once that strapping comes off his knee I think psychologically he will become even better. I see a very big future for Dawesome. A mini-buddy perhaps.

That's a bit below the belt, Jabso. The guy obviously doesn't want to build his hopes up and have them crushed; but rather be prepared for bad news, and if its good news , then it's a wonderful surprise. Simple psycholgical method to cope with the lows of following a footy side, particularly when there is absolutely nothing you can do to alter the result.

Gee it's hard to dislike Adelaide supporters. They are very gracious in victory and defeat. Just like their team and coach.

Congrats on the win. Disappointed with the result, but Collingwood fought hard and overall was an entertaining game. Was sitting dead centre inside your cheer squad and enjoyed some of the banter throughout the game and the vocalness of your supporters.
All the best throughout the finals :thumbsu:

Umpiring was pathetic, especially the goose who called Medders goal a point.

Carn Pies
I was actually sitting in the seats directly inline with that shot with the ball coming directly towards me. I was very confused when that wasn't called a goal... i was like awww (as a Crows supporter)... and then the ump called it a point. Seems it deflected a little off the post and hit him, however the ball wasn't spinning (helicopter) at all so couldn't hate hit the padding, so dunno how it could have been deflected from my point of view.

Well deserved win. We had a sniff come 2nd Q, but we were too weak in most aspects today. Magpies ran harder, tackled better and showed 20x more desperation than us. People I'm looking forward to seeing next year are Jack Anthony (looks to be a great forward) and Chris Dawes. Both look like good pick ups.

Thanks for a pretty good spectacle!

Try living in Adelaide, you'd change your tune pretty quick!

Gutsy.

I am not only talking about this game, I am talking about Collingwood since the Shaw/Didak affair. I must admit when all that transpired and you were in a bit of a slump at the time my feeling was, "Great, looks like a spot there for Richmond." However, for us it wasn't to be but I have been very impressed with Collingwood since all that happened. With your stand hopefully Shaw and Didak will never play up again. ;)

Well done guys.

Well done Pies on yesterday - I just hope that you smash St Kilda next week (providing they lose today).

Id agree to that - its a living nightmare being a non crows/power fan in SA :thumbsd:

Congrats for the win - nothing like seeing Crows/Power fan suffer :D

IF by some minor miracle you are playing Geelong I will have no hestation in hoping you guys win

It's taken me a day just to be able to post this without bursting into fits of rage but....

Congratulations. The better team won and you thoroughly deserved your win.

Best of luck for the rest of the year

And l'm sure Carlton supporters must be thinking "wish we took Dawes". I have a feeling they wouldn't have minded seeing a young talent like Dawes lining up alongside Fevola.

Key Forwards are very hard to find and even harder to develop, but we have one here that's going to play alot of senior footy for Collingwood.

Yeah do us a favour and smash the saints next week

The Collingwood-Hawthorn prelim should be a beauty:thumbsu:

Great to see some Adelaide supporters on here. Thanks guys!

Before the game yesterday I wandered around the West Lakes Mall, and there seemed to be a good feeling between the two groups. Not sure if this was due to the fact it was a hard game to pick before hand or not? I did notice as a I was leaving the car park a few heated words being exchanged, but I think you get that every game.

Fantastic to see the Adelaide crowd that was there largely stay to the very end...I would have been out of there!

Having been to AAMI twice in the past three weeks, I have to see the Adelaide supporters have over their Port neighbors.

Just dropping by to congratulate the woods. Played in true Collingwood tradition. Your team was younger, less experienced, and away from home. $%^&#ING hell I wish the Crows could get some of your finals quality.

Probably the Saints next week (unless hell freezes over) and from my point of view I would really like you to rip them a new one, after they got on the Adelaide board and slagged off at the Crows after Essendon bent over for them.

And when you belt Saints....wont Geelong be taking a few nervous glances at your prelim against Hawks.....but I get too far ahead of myself.

Go Pies 2008!

It's a weak pyschological method IMO, that was my point.
