Economists are in the same basket as Philosophers, Psychologists, Astrologists and Theologists........ The only reason they're given any credibility is due to them practicing their brand of Witch Doctoring Voodoo behind the veil of the Financial sector.

BS. Economic math is based on Physics, models based on statistical observation. Hardly pseudoscience

Quick question... If one buys a General Admission Home Membership... do i still need to pay to enter into a home game..?

No you get access to all games the membership allows, no more to pay. Theres always a general admission area just have to find it.

And there in lies the problem

There are a huge number of problems with economic forecasting. But being that it's a difficult science to quantify doesn't render it useless by any means. As it evolves, it's my opinion that economic thought will be one of the most important driving factors in the betterment of humanity. But I do agree some (lots of) economic data isn't worth the paper it's printed on

Sorry, doing my best to derail the thread...

Totally agree. Great thread. Last year I upgraded seats for all the blockbusters. Not this year. They are too greedy and won't be getting another cent out of me. Would have cost around $60 to upgrade three seats on Thursday, last year less than half that amount. Sure we had to sit a bit further back and get there earlier but I'd rather that than supporting this blatant money grab. Only missed two Melbourne games last year, this year if it's not a home game I'm not going. The time slots are awful too, Thursday night? Sunday night? Terrible. Get a clue AFL!

Yep, it definitely deterred me on Thursday night from going (even though I was really keen to be there). Having to travel from Bendigo on the train, followed by a days worth of food needing to be brought in Melbourne, followed by increased ticket prices and the small thought running through my head that a lot more people would turn up than expected and I miss out on a seat as I didn't upgrade my membership. It was all too much in the end. It sucks as that was the first Richmond v Carlton game I have missed in about 5 years.

I will continue buying my 12 game membership but if these ticket prices continue how they are and if we keep getting put on stupid days and in stupid time slots I will not be going to another blockbuster...which sucks.

They'll scrap it when they realise how much people won't be attending. The Rich/Carl game would've got 70,000 (even though both teams lost their first game) with the old pricing

Easily. It will take some time for them to realise and admit the error but I really think we fans are going to vote with our feet on this one. Bottom line is going to hurt them eventually.

I don't agree with Eddie on some things, but he hit the nail right on the head with this one.

Supporters are increasingly angry about the variable pricing for games, with Collingwood president Eddie McGuire the latest to criticise the new ticketing arrangements, saying they could discriminate against lower income earners.
That's something we'll have to have a look at," McGuire said. "I think people may not have realised half the manufacturing industry in Victoria shut down in the last few months. People are worried about their jobs, people are worried about keeping some money aside."

FFS even Eddie can see what's going on.

While BigFooty is a great medium for discussion, a lot of top end management just don't care. If you feel so much for this issue, make your voice heard via the club. Write to the club and express your opinion in a calm and mature manner, don't blame the club, blame the AFL. If enough voice gets pushed up the chain, action generally gets taken.
