Wow! you won at home. (as usual)

nothings changed. I'm not an English fan but you'll prove yourselves when you go to England and beat them.

Even in this series you took advantage of a ridiculously injury depleted England side. Your team is old and will most likely be very different come 2009while England have at least started playing young players.

That could prove the difference.

The thing is we have the Ashes.

2009 ashes is 2 1/2 years away.

Anything could happen between there and now.

Australia completely outclassed England and there can be no complaints about this result, Australia and England fully deserve it.

England have been well humilated and I am afraid I am doubting England have what it takes to even get a consolation this time round. They just keep choking and blowing it at all the critical stages and have little experience to fall back on.

Hi mate, bad luck on the series, i don't know if England have been humilated, i think it is the idea of the amount of respect most people who know cricket on these boards have for the English side when today people, including me, were getting nervous as Flintoff and KP were blazing 4's.

England have made us work for it, no doubt.

I know how much you like the keeper jones and i think his job behind the stumps was good during the ashes.

To tell you the truth i felt sorry for him after the game was over, at the end of the day i wanted to win badly but a part of me felt sad for jones, the look of despair on his face after what happened touched a bit of a chord with me.

You know we can all joke about whatever but at the end of the day i guess someone's career ended right there and i honestly, felt for him. He seems like a nice bloke and someone who gives it his all.

Overall, England have a good future, Cook is going to be the goods and i think most people on these boards expect England to regain the ashes in 09 considering the retirements we have coming up.

I like Jones, but I am afraid I am glad he is now almost out of the picture. He jst wasn't good enough at the end of the day, and Fletcher's OTT loyalty to him was beginning to grate and had gone on too long.

A few things did go our way though.

Flintoff and Harmison did jack all for the entire series, we know how damaging they can be.

Monty Panesar didnt get a game till the third test, was at least 5 times the better spinner than Giles was.

And yes, a few injuries to the Poms, Trescothik and Vaughan stand out the most.

But put those aside, AUSSIES!!!

It would make more sense to make it an even length of time between each series.

Why does it need to be an even length of time? In any case, the only way around it is to play every 2.5 years (and both teams want their Ashes revenues, so they won't put them further apart), or have the Poms come over in winter and play in Darwin, Cairns, etc. ;). Nothing will change.

Yup,

well done to the Aussies. We had a few problems, some of our own making, but we were comprehensively beaten by a better side.

Enjoy your victory. It feels good to reclaim the Ashes for once, doesn't it?

The wait for 2009 starts now.

Wow! How observant of you.

You're right. Having been there in 2001 when we slaughtered them, twas was a great feeling, as I'm sure it was for the players in 1989, 1993 and 1997.

So, what are you saying? That we'll be shat on in 2009. Or I'll rephrase that, what are you hoping?
That could prove the difference.
Stick to supporting/commenting about those jerk offs from the caribbean. I've yet to hear you discuss anything about them in a proper discussion, but since you like to make it clear thats who you support, I'm sure you're really knowledgeable about them. :thumbsu: :(

Nothing wrong with celebrating victory but calling us bastards is a bit uncalled for.
Not really. Can I ask you, what were you doing at the time when Warne bowled Panesar to regain the Ashes? Wasn't it a great sporting moment? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA we've got the Ashes and those Pommys don't. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH ASHES!!!!
