I don't think the Eagles have played so well at TD in a long time. They will probably win half their Melbourne games this year, which should set up a top 4 finish. I guess you'll get even when we play you at Subi later this year (not looking forward to it).

Good to see some opposition supporters with with class! Humilty says a lot about ones character.

FWIW Monocle, I don't think we tore the Eagles a new one by any means. WCE put up a great fight. That last quater comeback made for a game worth remembering.

Judd was awesome as usual. I was right begind the goals, when Judd flew past two Blues players to kick a goal. It happened so fast, it was almost a blur.



The 40k crowd advantage was also worth something, just like if the game had been played at Subi, it makes a difference when you have that many people behind you.


Worsfold is a VERY good coach IMO. Theres a lot to like about WCE in 05.

Good luck to your mob this year.

We had a great rivelry with the Eagles a few years back, with a few really close and memorable games. Look forward to seeing the teams go at it again when the real stuff starts.

congrats blue baggers , great win , good luck for the season , i reckon you guys will make the eight..some say , its only the wiz cup but it is proven that teams who perform well in it go on to have a pretty good year...last year they were saying the same thing about the saints and look what they did , same with geelong , both teams played september finals aswell..i agree with pagan , its a platform and confidence builder..i would hope my beloved hawks start their improvement soon.. well done....

they havnt had a real imact in the pre season competition this year at all, hopefully they can step up in the home an away games..

i thought we had it last night when we kicked all those goals fellas, the baggers done well to get up in the end!!

also looks like the blues have become more of a 'team' over the pre season as all the players seem to gel together pretty well!!

Pagan is a genius - three years ago you were dead and buried, nice resurrection.

We still have a way to go - inexperienced KPPs, lack of accountability in the defensive midfield and no clear option for CHB. We should be clearer on things by the end of the year.

Blues desperation and attack on the ball was first class.

To tell you the truth I wasnt impressed with the eagle's performance. I was at the game and thought the blues did extremely well. The eagles' big fellas are terrible. Lynch, Glass, Staker, Seaby etc were a joke. I think the only thing keeping the west coast together is their strong midfield which almost got them over the line on sat night. Theres a long weay to go. To be realistic, the season hasn't started yet. So lets just wait n see before we go saying that the blues and the eagles are the same as they were in the mid 90's.

Having said this, The blues played good team footy and throughly deserved their win. Well done guys.

Bring on the real stuff in less than 2 weeks. Can't wait!!!

Frankly, I wasn't impressed either.

But then I've probably seen them a lot more of than you and I'd suggest you really didn't see them at their best or what they can do when they're on song.

Seaby is widely recognised as a future star, Lynch is really a backman and Glass was towelled but is a damn site better than that. The jury is still out on Staker - talented but seems to lack higher brain functions sometimes. Hansen shows promise but is very inexperienced and McDougall hasn't played a game preseason yet

We are building a young team and I expect them to get a lot better as the season progresses. As regards the 90s comparison, most Eagles fans will tell you that this is the best squad we've had in ten years.

We'll just have to wait and see how good it is.
