Fyfe not in the best 22 ...really.....REALLY.
At least two high profile media awards Herald Sun and ABC Sports had him the equal best player in the competition with Ablett.
I was really annoyed...but then I had a close look at who the muppets on the selection panel were. Nuff said, move on.

Huge congratulations for Johnson, especially when you consider the up's and down's his career has gone through.

I'm not overly concerned about players that were overlooked, the clubs focus now is the flag.

It's a good feeling to think that Johnson's inclusion in the AA side won't be our only highlight for season 2013. Not long ago the inclusion of one of our players in even the AA squad was considered the only high point.

I see Freo got screwed just as much as Hawthorn in the AA team. The love affair selectors have with certain teams is rather sickening. I fully expect karma to bite hard, as the two Grand Finalists (meaning the two best teams of the year) could only field a total of 3 AA members, but at least they'll be there on that last Saturday in September. As for certain other clubs, well they can spend that week wallowing in the glow of their little shiny toys.

I think you got too many last year though with buddy not deserving of a spot with the amount of games missing and I thought that Breust was a better small forward than Rioli last year in your own team... But yes, pretty amazing Hodge couldn't get a spot...

The whole "grilling" of the panel seemed a bit scripted to me.

Let's ask Frawley about Kieran Jack being a forward and surprise, Spud has the stats right there ready to go. Rinse and repeat.

Even though he sounded really stressed and like he was going to tear up when he was challenged.

In - FYFE !!

Out - Jobe 'PEPTIDE' Watson

Congrats to Michael Johnson :thumbsu:. Solid as a rock but hoping his form on Saturday is a rung or two below his AA form.

My changes:
Wingard to INT
Thomas to FP
Jack to RR
Swan to INT
Mackie OUT
Fyfe to HFF
Watson OUT

Yep, expected at the very least both Fyfe and Hodge to easily get a guernsey this year and I think we both got shafted by the opinions of the 'experts' selecting the team.

*When I say 'experts', I mean morons.

Was planning on putting $50 on Walters for AA before the season started but didn't get round to it. Slapped myself in the head when he made the squad. Mixed sense of relief and disappointment that he didn't make the final team.

It's a brave man willing to risk their money gambling that the AA selectors will make good decisions.

In isolation Mackie's selection isn't actually that bad. He's had a good year and is one of the better rebounding defenders going around. The issue for me is a two parter in that
1) The team already had Johnson/Mitchell/McVeigh/Enright as rebounders, I know they desperately try and convince us there's some semblance to an actual team lineup but no team has 5 rebounding defenders.
2) He wasn't a more deserved selection than about 5-6 of the guys who missed out.

This applies for Jack and Hannebery too, they are AA quality players but it shouldn't have been this year.

I also feel it was almost criminal that Josh Kennedy missed out considering he almost pinched the Coleman playing in a shit team with one of the worst midfields ever assembled and is much more of a "team player" than Cameron as evidenced by his tackle numbers. West Coast have received more than their fair share of token selections over the years though so I guess it's fair enough they miss out for once.

Happy for MJ, excellent year, deserves recognition. Rather than criticise the other winners and their selection, I think his season should be celebrated.

Gee now, that's a rather positive post from you?? Glad to see the European sojourn is agreeing with you...:p

Seriously, it is a great turnaround by MJ, along with Clancee and Walters and Ibbo he is one of the players who have benefited most from the new coaching and fitness approach at the Freo bunker.
