For now officially owning every individual record in the sport he plays, of which historians will agree he, like Tom Wills for Aussie Rules, is the undoubted forefather and architect albeit unwillingly.

The sport is best described as “very much like AFL except that Jack Ginnivan gets no protection from decapitation”. It features entries from many existing AFL clubs, but in a confusing marketing strategy little has been done to inform fans of which sport they are attending when buying tickets.

Ginnivan is a towering colossus of the game, and should expect a bronzed statue to be erected in his honour outside the MCG shortly.

Last year there was definitely a media feeling of “he bought this upon himself”. Now they no longer laugh but understand that it has become blatant cheating and is a present and real danger to his health.
Hopefully more of the media get on board and push for behind the scenes changes in the way he is umpired.
