Toast Congratulations Josh Cowan

I haven't expressed one iota of sarcasm towards Cowan. To other posters who enjoy taking potshots at me I'm absolutely going to return plenty of it.
But precious aren't we if 'wide of the mark' is a now a potshot.

Back to the issue its only a hammy and he'll be back soon. No big deal.

That wasn't the line in question.

When will it sink in that "Scott"is not the sole arbiter of who goes and who is retained. It is a collective decision. At least involving Wells, the Match Committee and Football Manager. Often the medicos. Perhaps even the leadership group on occasion. Your ignorance of how a club functions is only surpassed by your borderline hatred of the coach. You need help.

Why do you sooften harangue him then? Apart from you not having a clue that is.

If that is the standard being applied, no problem whatsoever. But I don't expect a card when I respond. Is that fair or unfair?

Makes you wonder why so many posters claim they know better than the coaching staff despite having no knowledge of the inner workings of the club.

Can't remember too many posters ever definitively claiming they know better. Pretty confident however that roughly 100% of posters on this forum have expressed views on the club. Not all are going to agree with everything the club does. Amazing as it may seem.

No of course not everyone is going to agree with everything the club does. If they claim to know better that's their business although I'd strongly disagree. The criticisms that give me the most amusement are when a poster criticizes the club for making a decision that the poster initially promoted. That's always good fun.

As long as none is slapping themselves on the back for him getting hurt so they can feel vindicated in their opinion.

That would be tacky.

And no one here would do that.

Go Catters

yeah we lowly fans dont know what happens in the inner workings
but what happens on gameday, i/you see as much as what any coaching staff does

AFL is a fair jump in intensity from VFL, I'd have thought 4-6 weeks of VFL for a chronically injured player would be about right. I'd at least wait for the chronically injured player to be smashing the door down before being considered.

This continual comment just stuns me.

His hammies are chronic.
Let's hope he gets back. But 'only a hammy' in cowans case is off kilter.

Am I wrong in saying he played 2 VFL practice matches and then the first 2 rounds which makes 4 games? Also in the half of the Richmond match I saw he was our best player during that time. I don't see why a chronically injured player should be any different to any other at the selection table. Once the medical staff give him the all clear to play at AFL level, which clearly they did, then they're up for selection like any other player.

from memory he did his hammy so missed the practice games only played 2 VFL games

I guess menzel and vardy will also be good to go after 2 vfl games

why be cautious when it's only his career at stake

Just checked and he did play the first 2 VFL practice games:

He missed the 3rd practice game but was good to go for round 1 VFL. I think I remember the NIB medical room guys saying it was just soreness and they were careful with him. So he played 2 practice matches and 2 VFL games. Sure they could've played him for 5 VFL games or 10 or 15. But at some point you've got to bite the bullet and play him. Clearly the medical guys thought he was no more a risk at AFL level last week than VFL level and 4 VFL games isn't a stupidly short lead in.
