Wow we underrate lloyd
Absolutely! He's another one who quietly goes about his business and is only noticed when he commits a clanger. (Very highly rated by the club apparently)

I will lol a million times if Luke just crushes it for the rest of the season and finals and wins the Bobby Skilton after getting throttled on this board and in the media.

Hope he does it :)

JPK, Absolute Quality!! Congrats Heeney!!

scaryness I just have a question I have always been meaning to ask but always forgot. Sorry if this is listed somewhere or a stupid question or the wrong forum to ask.

I understand there will be a YPOTY of the year, but why do we vote separately for them? Shouldn't it be the YPOTY with the most POTY votes? The reason I ask this is when looking through various voting threads I noticed a number of times a YPOTY in the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 votes being the highest YPOTY player, yet they wouldn't get the YPOTY vote. I find that strange..... In addition, every week I voted I had to cross check my top 5 votes to see the highest YPOTY eligible player if there was one.

For example, Papley was above Jones in the POTY but not the YPOTY. I find that strange as it would mean that Papley had the better season on votes in the POTY but not as good as jones in the YPOTY. I would think that the POTY would trump the YPOTY in terms of a better season.

I just find this anomaly quite strange.

Edit: scaryness quality work running the voting. Much appreciated.

If a YPOTY eligible player is in the top 5 for the game they are automatically the young player of the week. If there are multiple it's the one with the higher total votes. The seperate vote is mainly for if no eligible players are in the top 5 for that week.

As for the Papley being over Jones in overall but Jones being higher on YPOTY - I don't know what to say, that's a bit of an anomaly.

One factor would obviously be the distribution of 15 votes vs 1 vote at a time per week can make the table a little out of whack if you directly compare them.

Second factor could be that Jones got 2 of his 6.5 total votes in games where Papley wasn't playing (or coming back from injury) so that would likely be the reason. Then Papley and Heeney came in together and Heeney regularly scored higher than Papley as Heeney finished 4th overall.

That makes complete sense and something I didn't actually know about the voting.

Again those points make sense.

I guess I raised the post out of me not understanding of the votes from the first quote, in regards to which player got the weekly vote.

It makes sense that, with the 1 YPOTY vote per game that Heeney/Papley stole votes of each other and both started late.
