Wonder how many people tipped priddis to be our next brownlow winner in that thread we had a while back.

I think most thought it was going to be Shuey or Yeo

Frustrating thing is Shuey should have done alot better the last couple of seasons. Ignoring the injuries, the suspensions are totally unnecssary and his performances have been below what should be expected of a player with his abilities.

I think a bump is in order.

Yeah, i figured someone else can go find it if i give them a prod ;)

Shuey has had his best season since 2011 i thought. Particularly his second half. The fact he's the one getting tagged each week and not Priddis, means his job is a hell of a lot harder and it shows in a few of his weaker performances. I've cut him some slack. Some of his games this year were dynamite and i at least have that positive feeling about him next year.

I don't however, share that feeling about Masten or Selwood.

He is dealing with a tag in a pretty average midfield. I don't think we had been coached well until this year as Woosh never made moves...he seemed happy to have Hurn tagged out of it etc. Whereas Simpson moved McGovern back as a loose man and that freed up Hurn.
So I think under a better coach with a few more ideas we will hopefully see more of the end to this year than the beginning of it from Shuey.

Congratulations to MR dependable. Fantastic result for effort. Still has a few years as well. Go Pridda

Agreed his second half was very good, but that's the thing, he should be doing it for more than the back half of the year.

Yeah Gary Stocks mentioned that he thinks Simpson has had a big impact on Shuey, and I think we will see some continued improvement from him over the next couple of years. I'm excited.

Totally agree.

I think Shuey's back half was tied to Priddis and Gaff. The former being played to his strengths, holding up play, waiting for disposal by hand and therefore allowing Shuey to create space and utilise the first hands on the ball; the latter in that Gaff played a more centre roll, got more physical, received more of the football and provided a viable outlet into the forward fifty......also Hurn in a similar roll.

Noticed in the quick quiz for Lycett on West Coast website, when asked coach's favourite he said Shuey, then changed it to Ellis.

Sheesh, Ratten averaging 10 clearances and 26 touches per match in '99. Not a bad effort.

Not too sure who the guy is who wrote this article, but I thought it was a pretty good summary of Priddis and his Brownlow win. Congratulations Matt on your success!

Well written.

Had to lol and then vomit at this:

Wouldn’t it be fun if a homophone of the great Haydn Bunton was to become the third player to win both Sandover and Brownlow medals?

.... So tell me, who did you put money on this year then!

Didn't put money on anyone this year, so put your money on no Brownlow award to be given out next year!

I did however put money on Cloke for the Coleman..... but I still wouldn't recommend hoping my luck transfers into the Coleman, especially if it depends on Cloke being half decent...

(Watch this space, we'll return here next year when Cloke wins the Coleman and I will be SPEWING).
