As Mick draws closer to breaking Jock's coaching record, I thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge his great service to the Collingwood football club. He can be a polarising figure at times and has certainly tested our respect for him with his move to Carlton. But the fact remains that he was able to develop one of the best Collingwood teams I have seen and delivered us the holy grail in 2010. My favourite memory of Mick were his tears in the box after the 2011 preliminary final win. Clearly those boys meant the world to him. So good on you Mick and good luck for the future (not against us though).

Thanks for 2010, Mick, and you did bloody well with those 2002/3 sides. 2002 should have been another flag on your honour roll too.

Yep, thanks Mick for all the good you did at Collingwood, loved watching teams you coached.

Once you retire, I hope you and the club can move past the bitterness that has characterised the past four years.

In the meantime, congratulations also on your part in continuing Carlton's misery. In the best Micky McGuane tradition.

Thread has potential.

I congratulate mick on the achievement not many people will get close to this again. Also thank him for our flag.

I would like him to thank me for listening to his rubbish cranky press conferences I have to listen to for 10+ years and thinking our coach was a wank. But result > character

There were some pretty mediocre players in those two teams, and he had some misfortune with suspensions prior to the games. As much as I loved 2010, I think his best coaching effort was getting us close in those two season, probably given the back drop of the Shaw years in the late nineties. Regardless of how you view him personally, a very, very good coach. Thanks for your contribution to the Pies. Meanwhile rot in hell at the Blues.

Best coach I've seen at our time at the club. 02 shoud've be a flag if it wasn't for the goal slump. That finals series (season even) was enjoyable. 03 we were great, domainated all finals matches and didn't deserve to lose Rocca.
06 was a great season thankyou.
07. Brilliant. Never felt more out of my skin v The West Coast in Perth winning in extra time in Perth and nearly knocking off the cats to make it to the big one.
09. Wow. That finals series. Prelim disappointing but boy didn't that set us up for 2010.
2010. That season. Peaked beautifully. Wow say no more! Thankyou.
2011. The greatest winning record streak on top ever. Wow. So great. Another GF. Shame we didn't win this one. A great way to leave. 2nd best club in the whole AFL.

Thanks and Congratulations Milk, but I hope you rot at Carlton!
If this was intended then I love the pun. If it was not intended, then it's even funnier lol

Mick frustrated me long before he left the Pies and also as he made his way out the door, and I've been mildly disturbed (but more lately amused) by his move to Carlton. But no one who has a memory of the Shaw years can feel anything less than profound gratitude for what Malthouse did in his time at Collingwood. I agree that there was something very gratifying about 2002, and it was great to have another crack at it in 2003. What most pleased my heart was that we didn't dip for too long, just long enough to pick up a few handy players in the draft, and then he took us back up again. We might have slipped from contention for a decade, languished at the bottom of the heap, turned upon ourselves like Richmond, but instead we soared again and became even stronger. Heady stuff. Thanks Mick. Well done on the record, but I hope that you recover your senses and depart the Scum ASAP.

The best thing about Mick going to Carlton is that they are going to have to honour our last premiership coach in front of 80,000 fans.

Congratulations Mick on reaching a rather irrelevant record, but thanks for what you gave to this club.

Oh, and congrats on the record VFL/AFL losses, even if you passed it a while back.

Still got a way to go to pass Jock for wins, finals, finals wins, grand finals and premierships.

Thanks Mick for saving me a lot of time by avoiding your press conferences over the years.

Mick would probably say the same thing but it's still an amazing accomplishment. Leading games for a coach in the HISTORY of the game is nothing to scoff at.

Well done, Mick. Delievered me my first premiership taste as a fan and what a night it was.
