Simmo, How Do I Love Thee? (Sonnet #6)

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the wing and back,
You know no way but to have a crack.
I love thee in wins and days of hope bereft,
When I comforted myself in your kicks off left.
I love thee for thou courage, number and frame,
Are you the second coming of Gary Crane?
I love thee for headfirst into danger way you always jump,
Even though reportedly you are quite the grump.
I love thee for thou are so brave,
Good gracious me, will you ever again shave?
Sadly, we near the day you will hang up your boots,
But you have laid the foundation for this club's green shoots.
I love thee as you approach the biggest of milestones,
Such a champion produced from a skinny pile of bones.
I love thee for your grit and pluck,
And wish for you this weekend and beyond the best of luck.

I have posted this previously

My eldest daughter, 9 at the time, wanted only one number on her back, the first time she spotted Kade during his first preseason. I mentioned that he may not play many games in the seniors. She still reminds me of that statement.

Yesterday, my daughter called, reminiscing. She still has that first, signed jumper

The thing I admire most about Simpson, is pound for pound, he is/was one of the most courageous players to represent our club, let alone the VFL/AFL. As for his achievements within the game, doubt he could have extracted one more ounce of effort.

I have no doubt, if there were more players like Simmo, over the last 15 years, our results would have been a hell of a lot different

TO commemorate Kade Simpson’s 300th AFL game, the Blues will run out in a limited-edition match-day guernsey against Port Adelaide at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.

Reminiscent of the jumper worn by club legend Stephen Silvagni when he recorded his 300th game, the No. 300 will sit proudly under the iconic Nike swoosh to recognise his achievement.

I have SOS's 300 Games Limited Edition Guernsey :D

On behallf of all footy fans its been a pleasure watching this bloke.
Had a chance to take good money and be surrounded by young kids at our club and stayed at blueboys.
Much appreciated person and player.
Never heard anybody knock him from any club and thats a rarity in this game.

Kade Simpson is an absolute class act.
Class footballer, class individual
Would be stiff not to be Carlton's all time best back pocket player
300 outstanding games of football from a player that gives 100% in every game he plays
Congratulations to you guys on having someone of his caliber in your team for so long
Get along and show him your love
