STAR Carlton defender Kade Simpson is officially an AFL Life Member.

The honour was bestowed on the 33-year-old during last night’s AFL season launch at Forum Melbourne, with 1981 and ’82 Carlton premiership captain Mike Fitzpatrick also being awarded AFL Life Membership.

Stringy little run of duck shit his is :) 4th round selection playing 300 bloody games for the mighty CFC. Seen the tough times ... lets give him some good times.

Well done Simmo. Heart and soul of what it means to be Carlton.
 
Unless a miracle happens this year or next will forever be the answer to a trivia question - who is the best Carlton player to never win a premiership.

fitz another player I couldn't really embrace - had an aloofness that seemed to distance himself from supporters - not sure what the players thought of him - bit bradmanesque I reckon
Had a very academic background so may not have had a lot in common with other players and his general demeanor suggested he was not 'one of the lads'. Would be interesting to hear from an ex-player on how he gelled with the group or not.

Was one of those players you always admired for what he did but didn't necessarily warm to him. Just seemed to be one of those players.
