Yes! If Liverpool qualify for the Champions League, Birmingham would be in the UEFA Cup next year!

By the way, Andy Grey made an interesting comment on the weekend..."those clubs who don't feel the League (Worthington) Cup is important are those clubs that were knocked out in the early rounds". I wonder which club he is referring to in particular? *wink*.

ManUre did English Football the greatest dis-service bu pulling out of the FA Cup last year. Arsenal and Liverpool are the "true" English Clubs.

Any Manure fan wanna discuss football prior to 1993??

1. Sir Alex Ferguson and the players did not want to play that tournament in Brazil. It was Fartin Martin Edwards, the PLC (eyes on the merchandising as usual), and the English FA (to boost their world cup bid) that wanted United in there.

2. It's been at least five years since United sent in a full strength side into the League Cup. But then again, we have bigger fish to fry. Oh, and Arsenal also sent in a weakened side into the Worthless Cup.

3. Liverpool and Arsenal as the only true English clubs? Last time I checked, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Wes Brown, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Luke Chadwick, Andy Cole, and Teddy Sheringham (all United first team regulars) were English. Do Liverpool have that many English first teamers? Are there any English players left at Chelsea?

4. Pre-93 United. Yep. Chat away if you want, I've done my time watching Liverpool win trophy after trophy...but while we managed to win the odd FA Cup, the modern day Liverpool go for the scraps like the League Cup. Still, always loved the sight of Whiteside, Robson, and Strachan stomping all over McMahon and Souness in the midfield...it was about the only thing that put a smile on the faces of United fans in those days.
