Well they get at least one winner this week.
Good news for them on Josh Fraser signing on until 2003. With any club its always good to see that the young talent that you cheer on from the first has decided to stick with you. I always remember how gutted i was over Matthew Robran and Ben Allan leaving. When it looked like Daniel Chick was going i had the same sick feeling. So when he did re-sign it just makes you feel like your clubs special to them, and not just a pay cheque.

So to the Woods, good on ya for signing one of the better young prospects around.

Cheers.

I wonder what Josh did in a previous life to deserve such a horrible fate

So, it was worth throwing all those games in 1999 after all. The other night I got out a video of the match against Port in 1999 when we gave them 25 points start with 8 minutes to go and lost by a point. I remember kicking seats after that match. Then there were the heartbreaking losses at Geelong and Adelaide. All in the space of 4 weeks if I remember correctly.
I reckon we did all right out of all that in the end. Josh was the pay-off.

But, really, the draft system is very flawed if it allows clubs to be rewarded for losing.
I really think the Pies would have finished about 11th or 12th that year if they hadn't been playing for draft picks.

...and now we have to give the Boy Wonder a Million bucks or so to keep him!

Number 20 and 25 for the Pies will lead the club to a flag together.

Of course, that is if number 5 doesn't do it first!

This forum must be like an escape from reality for the collingwood faithfull.

Enjoy it while it lasts, June is just around the corner.

lol.

Hey everybody ...

Cup_Half_Full just took a cheap shot a Collingwood.

HaHaHaHaHa.

How frigging original.

C'mon Alf everybody is allowed to have one cheap shot at Collingwood a day aren't they. I thought that was the only reason they are still in the comp.

Grendel, i couldnt agree with you more, i reckon its great when a player resigns with the club that drafted him. I think Chris Grant resigning with the Bullies a few years back was the saving of that club, luckily his faith rewarded him with some finals. It is heart warming regardless of the player or club involved

Hey! I'll have to watch that one again. I don't bother keeping tapes of Port's losses, but I guess a Collingwoodville supporter's tape library would be pretty meagre if they did the same.

I was very happy last year when Nick Stevens decided to stay with Port after he had received big offers from Victorian clubs. I'm sure he got a nice big pay rise out of it, but it was also a vote of confidence for Port Adelaide.

Good to hear a young bloke praise the club who gave him his first chance. He is obviuosly going to get a fairly good reward but it could have been a lot more. Well done Josh, I think you have shown a lot of people whether Collingwood or other clubs that money isn't the only thing in Footy.

No what I am saying is he could have waited until the end of his contract, put himself up to the highest bidder and left and probably would have got a lot more.

$250,000 a year is great but there are others getting more.

You're not a Marmalade fan?
Yeh, just like my attempt, his Collingwood jokes are cheap shots and not very original.

But McGuire's facial expressions after the joke.........PRICELESS!

lol.

Hey Gravey,

The one point "loss" turned out to be a win because WE GOT FRASER.
What did you get? The chance to get blown away by the w***eroos in the first week of the finals.
Well ... can you blame me for trying to put a positive spin on it? I kept the video because it was a great match and a great finish. In another 5 seconds it would have either been a draw or a Collingwood win. Mind you, I still felt like kicking the seat when I watched it the other night.

Bubbalouis,

It's interesting that you say it's "heart warming" when a player stays with his club. It's funny, you know. There was a time when it was considered quite normal for a player to stay with his club.
Ah, the good old days.
