Congratulations guys.

Good win today. It was a big game and we couldn't step up. It shows we still have some way to go before we can be considered as good as the Eagles. The Eagles were more accountable, harder at it and had more contributors. Your setup is better and your players are in tune with one another. Worsfold also outcoached Connolly. Putting Chick on Pavlich was a great idea. Connolly should have thrown Pavlich forward (or back) and left him one out with Chick IMO.

Anyway, good win guys.. good luck for the rest of the season and hopefully we will see another good game come Rd. 22.

Thanks guys.

I think the worrying signs for the Violets are Croad and Farmer. Farmer and Headland need to get their games together and Farmer I believe is overpaid. Headland is not getting the ball a la Lions and is looking lost.

Croad is and always will be an overpaid hack.

Chick on Pavlich was a great move, good to see Read back, and playing in the midfield too was a surprise.

Sampi is going to be a gun.

Maybe next time Shockers. :D

BTW, where's Freo Hitman? :D :) ;) :p

Alright then :D

Pavlich is a crab and cant play in the midfield. Chick embarrassed him!!

Your "unbelieveable forward line" was shocking :D No goals from Farmer and Longmuir, two of your forward guns although Longmuir spent some time double teaming Gardy in the ruck. Made no difference though. Just 5 combined goals from Medhurst, ****house (who was absolutely deplorable) and Croad.

Headland had 7 disposals!! Not the gun recruit he was at the start of the year. (although I think he will come good....maybe) Haselby was also fantastic with 12 disposals :D

You "better midfield" was thrashed in centre clearance and in general possesion, pressure, numbers and accountability. Bell was the only one to show up while Fletcher, Cousins, Embly, Judd, Read and Chick ran rampant through the middle.

Now I can say that Simmonds gets destroyed by Gardy :D

Carr should look up "tag" in the dictionary...

Ok ok Ill stop now. How sweet it is! :D

Geez, don't hold back :D

Pavlich had his worst game for the season. Matching Chick up on him was a good idea but he was been pretty good in all the other games and is averaging about 22 possesions a game I think. Most of them are usually quality as well but today they weren't unfortunately. I was hoping he would have a big game to shut you up... but not to be :D Maybe next time :)

And I wouldn't say Gardiner absolutely thrashed Simmonds. Gardiner won no doubt and was responsible for quite a few centre clearances but I thought Simmonds was good around the ground and did better than the other ruckman previous to him this season had done on Gardiner.

And I've never said our midfield is better.

Look, Im not stupid (leaving myself open for this one) :D I know Pavlich is a class player so I was blindly hoping that he would have a shocker and he did :D So I win :D

Chick though did a fantastic job on him. Connelly I thought made a coaching error leaving Pav in the middle. He wasnt having any effect on the game and he couldnt stop Chick in the second half. Should have moved Pav up forward or down back to see if he could turn the game.

I thought Pavlich's best move for the game though was deep in defence when he fired out a quick handpass to Phil Matera who duly slotted home his second from 15 out. Nice gift that from Pav :D

Geez, Gardiner was BOG? How well could Simmonds have really played

Thank you for your sportsmanlike words, Freo fans.

I think people are being a bit harsh on Headland - George Grilledfreofish was on his high horse about sending him back to the WAFL on 6PR tonight, but there's going to be a period of adjustment while he gets used to the Freo approach. There's a big difference between Voss, Black, Lappin, Akermanis, Hart and a couple of Scotts winning the hard ball and delivering it to you as you run in on goal while being shepherded to praying that Cookie or McManus are going to somehow spray it in your direction.

There is this cultural issue I keep banging on about though. Croad and Farmer are overpaid underperformers. Waterhouse and McManus wouldn't get into another AFL side. Cook (though as ever he tried hard today and I do like him) is one of the worst kicks in the AFL. I thought Medhurst carried on like a pork chop for most of the day trying to be Jeff Farmer. Haselby dived a bit too today - does he normally? Pavlich just had an off day against a very motivated opponent. All Freo's best players were the young, not well-known boys like Hayden, Woods, Haddrill & of course the old war horse Peter Bell.

Overall, I feel the strength of our club is our belief in the system and in our collective ability to win the game. Losing Wirra before the game and Kerr when challenged in the 3rd didn't seem to shake that faith. Go Woosha!

I didn't think he was BOG. I thought Fletcher and Cousins were better, Sampi was probably better because everytime the Eagles needed a goal, he kicked one or set one up. And Chick was better IMO. I would have had Gardiner as the 5th best Eagle. But hey, that's my opinion. You might have thought he was BOG.

Note that I said Gardiner was BOG? Question mark. Whoever was giving out the medal gave it to Gardy and whilst I thought he was very good and cut up Simmonds and constantly gave us first use, I too thought Cousins or Fletcher was better.

Agree with most of it. Didn't think Clive was too bad actually, atleast he tried and if it wasn't for his dodgy kicking, would have kicked 4 or 5. Pulled down 8 marks as well.

And nah, Hasleby never dives. Not for memory, anyway. They are normally saved for our forward pockets' and Koops.

And Hayden, Woods, Haddrill, Polak, etc have been some of our most consistant performers all season. With a bit more experience and McPharlin back, our backline should hopefully be pretty steady. All are young and pretty quick.
