I don't think you stuffed up with Ibbotson. He is a newbie to football and may take time to flesh out his game but he has good potential. Probably my only criticism is that you drafted guys with similar skill sets to players you already have. You seem to have an abundance of defensive midfield/HBF types and I think Fremantle needs some more explosive-attacking player types. Oakley-Nicholls would have been ideal but unfortunately he was gone. Still, Drum will take over nicely from Shane Parker.

Coasting, have to agree with you on two issues here:

1) Freo did not stuff up with Ibbotson. He is bottom age, there is still a hell of a lot of improvement to come from him. Got this gut feeling that he will make it and be a beauty for Freo. He is only 17 and just needs time.

2) Also agree that Freo seem to like to have guys with similar skills and an abundance of defensive midfield/HBF types. We need a couple of explosive-attacking player types i.e a Judd or a Cousins, who can consistently break open a game. Not saying that Ibbotson, will be a Judd or Cousins, but he has the potential to be a good attacking type of midfielder, that we so desparately need.

True, but my point was CC's tendency to pick up interstaters in the national draft. Take Peake out, and the kid from East Freo was CC's first local pick.



Headland....by god we gave up some assets to get him.

Rob - I think that in CCs view, local boys may not be good enough and rightfully so.

Headland was well worth what we traded for him.

I was a bit concerned at first but having thought about it , I now have a theory that Shepparton is now a Freo "Zone" just like the Midwest is for Easts.

Recruit a couple from there , their peers and Relatives start following Freo.

Young Drummy actually supports Freo, so we will into the future have a bunch of recruits from there who are not only players but supporters.

And they are almost certain to be free of any residual love or respect for the toast.
