Seems like Hunt is currently penning the details for his contract newal at the Suns.

Love him or hate him, seems he'll be sticking around for a while yet. There goes all thought that he's returning to the NRL.

WOW, if thats correct (and I have no reason to doubt you Sunny) I think it's great news, He has done everything the club has asked of him and more over the last couple of years, hopefully 2012 will be a breakout year for K.

An added bonus is that if Harley has settled into K's house as well as has been reported, K hanging around can only boost the chances of Harley re-signing.

Perhaps thats the GC plan? Make Karmichael happy, to get Harley further settled. Good rumour nonetheless.

2 year contract should suffice I would think? Which should see him to end of 2014.

Seems about right to me, Supernova.

I usually don't trust SNF for accuracy, but they had actual quotes from K.

“I’m very happy on the Gold Coast,” Hunt told ABC Grandstand.

“I’m enjoying my experience in AFL and loving the game as we continue to develop on the training track and develop personal.

“(Season) 2012 is the final year on my current contract but my manger got up yesterday and has been talking to clubs.

“I’m really enjoying my football and I love the Gold Coast footy club and the boys that are at the club and I definitely want to be around.

“Hopefully (putting pen to paper) won’t be too far around the corner.”

Great news with big Tom Lynch signing for another 2 years. (end of 2014). Awesome stuff for the club.

That is great news GCSuns , just found the article .

Gold Coast Suns extend contract of Tom Lynch until 2014 by: Andrew Hamilton From: The Courier-Mail January 28, 2012 12:00AM

THE SUNS have secured one of the key foundations for future success by re-contracting strapping forward Tom Lynch until 2014.
Lynch, considered a 10-year centre half-forward, will start 2012 as the Suns' first-choice man in attack.

His signature leaves No.1 draft pick David Swallow and in-demand midfielder Josh Caddy as the only players yet to sign new deals from the group the Suns intend to build their first premiership side around.

The 19-year-old Lynch, who earned comparisons with St Kilda star Nick Riewoldt in his first season because of his tireless workrate, said contract talks were straightforward given he wanted to stay at the Suns.

"I just thought it was a good time to re-commit and not have to worry about it throughout the season so I could concentrate on playing good footy without any distractions," he said.

"I'm really enjoying my time up here, we've got a great group and I think we can achieve something special if we stick together."

It is a huge boost for the Suns, who were anticipating strong interest in the Victorian teenager when his existing deal expired at the end of the this year.

With Lynch, Sam Day, Charlie Dixon and Rory Thompson all on their list, as well as established players Nathan Bock and Matthew Warnock, the Suns have an abundance of key position players.

Lynch was taken with pick No.11 in last year's national draft, behind Day who was No.3, but he finished the season as the stand-out among the club's young key prospects.

He made a stunning AFL debut in round 7 last year, booting two goals and gathering 17 possessions in the upset of the Brisbane Lions in the first clash between the neighbours.

He went on to play 13 games and boot 15 goals, including hauls of three against Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs, to finish his rookie year third on the Suns' goalkicking tally behind Danny Stanley and captain Gary Ablett.

Also good news Dave Swallow has announced he wants to be a 1-club man and looking to sign a lengthy extension before the end of this season. Full back page of today's Bullentin and states he will become the face of theclub ahead of players like Ablett and popular media identity Hunt. Next captain of the Suns sounds likely.

Was always going to happen! Love Dave, and will definitely be the Captain once Gazza hangs up the boot.

I wonder if Hamo forgot about Harley? He hasn't re-signed yet, has he?

Dave signed a contract at the end of last season till the end of 2013 , so he has 2 years to go , strange that hammo is linking him with the uncontracted players at years end.

Bulletins article states that even though Swallow has a cpl years left of contract, if the club puts a suitable long-extension deal on the table this season, he will sign it locking him in for 5+ years. Swallow states that obviously there will always be temptation to play with Andrew at North, or both heading home to WA, but with Andrew captain material at the Roos and Dave likely next captain at the Suns, this looks the more likely outcome.

Great news! Even better hearing that Dave wants a longer contract as well :D

Bennell (& hopefully Caddy) to sign before the season's end and I'll be a happy camper!

Tom Lynch is great news, he really showed something last year. And with Sam Day through to 2014 there's some great potential.

My thinking is that this also puts some pressure on Dixon to stand up this year... he's currently signed through 2012 (I think), would he need to improve before he gets his new deal? I think so. And I hope he does.

Yeah Dixon has an imposing physical presence but hasn't been able make his mark in the seniors. I hope he turns it around in 2012

Just so we have some stuff on Swallow before the article on GCFC disappears.

In the same week that the Gold Coast SUNS announced that they have retained rising star Tom Lynch, outstanding midfielder David Swallow has signalled his intentions to play out his career as a one club player.

This week though, Swallow who is being launched as one of the faces of the Gold Coast SUNS 2012 Marketing Campaign revealed he wants to be apart of the GC SUNS long term success.

“I have made some really good mates here on the Gold Coast and it’s exciting to think what we could possibly achieve if we stay together here on the Coast.”

While his short term future is secured at the GC SUNS, Swallow confirmed he is already considering a significant contract extension and could put pen to paper before the end of the 2012 campaign.

Some nice quotes there. Swallow committing to the long term should influence others to stay on as well.

I am really itching for the season to start !!

just gonna throw this out there. with trent mckenzie on most of the member ID's now, and on the homepage of the website, i'm thinking he'll be the next to re-sign.

I believe he already did? Signed a 12-month extension, so he's here until the end of 2013.

So the AFL have re-signed Hunt as an ambassador of the game for 2 years with the Suns to re-sign him again similar to his last contract. So we pay him approx $250-300k per year and AFL tops up the rest. Should hear more details shortly.

Couldn't see it happening any other way, really. It's clear that he's still getting quite a lot of attention despite being in the system for a year now. And if he actually thrives in the midfield, it's going to be pretty good for the code up here. He's very much loved from new AFL fans.
