I reckon Eagles and Freo would be pretty maxed out with their playing list and their up and coming young fellas to keep a hold of?

Its the bottom clubs you worry about poaching, the clubs with NO stars, or ageing list. Bulldogs? Melbourne? Essendon? Port?

I think they are the clubs that will strike if they are clever enough. The other 12-14 clubs have average -> excellent lists where they would be pretty full on the salaray cap? Hawthorn, Collingwood, Geelong, St Kilda, Carlton.

Oh if Freo or the Weagles want him they will make space in their cap. Veteran lists, trading out players, delisting, many a way to free up $$$ if a club really wants a player, especially quality like Bennell, you would happily give up 2+ lesser players to get him. Not saying he will go, but the offers will be excessive and enticing.

]If his management are clever they will hold out until late in the season and wait for the offers to start rolling in[/B] ;) Freo and Eagles will surely make a nice bid for him... Even if he is keen to stay at the Suns, it will put him in the box seat to bump up his contract.

No doubt this is going to happen next year with multiple players. We will have an anxious trade week October 2012 :(

Yeah it's a little sad, but I guess it was going to happen. Hope he stays on with the GC Suns NEAFL side if he doesn't get a gig elsewhere

Thought there wouldn't have been anymore delistings seeing as we made a bunch of them earlier in the off-season, but I'm not surprised to see Daye delisted.

Unfortunate to see Joey go - he was apparently a popular member of the playing group. With his attributes it wouldn't surprise me for another club to pick him up.
Does this give us an extra spot on our list for a PSD pick? I've lost track with all the de-listings and signings as to where we are at.

Agree with the Daye delisting, why is it only announced now though? He is clearly behind in talent compared to our other players. Good move by the club, continues to be managed perfectly.

Hope to see Daye play NEAFL some where. Id say Aspley Hornets will make a decent play for him.

Late delisting may be to clear a space for an experienced forward pick up in the psd draft?! ;)

Haha yeh Suns, Bretanta may be considered. Few guys still floating around. Curious to see Pies delistings and what happens with Macaffer and McCarthy. Those guys might just walk and nominate. Going to be some very cheap pick-ups available should the club want to head down that road.

Still not sure we'll get an experienced body in the PSD. Ashcroft was quite clear in that the reason he got Warnock was to release Bock and/or Brown up forward.

So I expect Bock to be up forward a lot more next year, or Brown maybe. Hopefully Bock though. :D Just hope that Warnock can hold the KPF's well.

Do you think in a clean and un-interrupted 2011, Brandon Matera would have been our leading goal kicker?

Played about half the season, kicked I think 15 goals. Took a few games to find his feet when he come back into the senior side but when he did showed plenty of dazzle and promise :)

He is obviously not a lead up, 45+ a season forward, but maybe in a few years, with a full season he could be worth 30+ goals :thumbsu:

He is too small to have a massive impact. Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think he kicked a goal from a set shot?
He is a crumber and nothing more at the moment, needs another 5-10kg of muscle. But has the goods to be a Milne, or a Betts type small forward.

Matera kicked 3 goals from set shots against the Hawks in round 24, didn't he? One from the boundary/corner, and 2 from about 40 meters in front of goal. Bocky found him a couple of times on the run. Was good.

Definitely would have been our leading goal-kicker if he stayed on. Was going really well until injury hit him! Will be a vital part of our forward setup.

Haha sorry, I didn't mean that he should be a full forward or something. Just that with the set up we have his crumbing abilities would of scored more then Danny Stanley scored

Oh well there ya go...the only game I missed all year and proved me wrong haha. I couldn't make that game because our footy grand final was on that day :D plus I didn't bother to watch the replay due to festivities for the next 4 days...:o

I'm assuming the boys out of contract have re-signed by now? Stanley and Iles were the only ones left I think?

Haven't heard anything about them being de-listed, and with pre-season starting today, I'm confident they have penned some new deals. Delisting would have been announced otherwise. Hope we hear specifics soon!

Interesting to hear Mckenna talking yesterday already about how 7 or 8 guys will be delisted end of 2012 season. Guys that need a good year to stay on list:

Hine
Moss
Jolly
Flanagan
Liddy
Gilbee
Taylor
Iles
Hunt
Patrick
Magin (R)

If anyone gets delisted not on above list id be suprised.

Others with more trade potential:

Toy
Krakouer (did he sign initial 2 or 3 year deal?)
Dixon
Hickey
