dang beat me to it! Great news nevertheless!

The important quotes
“I’m really happy to re-sign with the club for the next three seasons,” Matera said.

“I have enjoyed my time so far with the SUNS and I think that over the next couple of years it’s going to be an exciting place to be and I know I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Quit my day job so I have a little bit too much time on my hands heh.

aspiring for that professional gambler career I see...yeah, me too... :D

Dream job: Professional Gambler with a bunch of TV's on the wall watching sports, and in front of the computer day trading on the stock markets...working in ma undies aaaallll day

Back to contract discussions...who we got left to go?

I think they are all up end of 2012, and I'd like to see them resign now rather than the on coming circus mid to late next year.
Bennell
Caddy
Lynch
Taylor
McKenzie

These guys I would like to see signed as well, but not as important as the 5 young fellas above in my opiniion

Weller
Toy
Wilkinson
Russell
Hutchins

Cant be true , West Coast fans been saying for the past year he will leave next year , they could'nt be wrong could they.:o

Actually going for game developer but hey still sitting in front of the computer in underwear right :p

I'd probably put Taylor down into the second bracket, although he's looking like a gun I don't think there will be any circus if he doesn't resign until lateish 2012 (but agree on the rest)

Fair enough, but Taylor has played just as much as Caddy...and I thought he shined brightly as a young sun :D 35 touches with his first 2 games....was very impressed with him and looks like a player with fantastic composure and read the play well it seemed

Taylor showed more as a defender in 2 games than Tape did over the entire season. :p

Agree with sk's list of "must-sign"'s (potentially -taylor).

Funny to read that they will now set their sights on Matera after the 2014 season. West Coast fans are persistent, that's for sure!

All the talk will now be on Bennell. Hope he re-signs soon. Especially after he said he wanted to be a 10 year player for the Suns. :D

Signing these kids up until the end of 2014 is a brilliant strategy IMO, by the end of that season we should be starting to put together some very good footy and no doubt the boys will want to be part of the chase for a flag. Should only get easier to re-sign them with them knowing a premiership tilt is just around the corner.

Fantastic news! This makes me happy. :D Just some quotes ...

The 19-year-old Victorian said he was thrilled to be continuing his AFL career with the Gold Coast.

“There are going to be some exciting times with the SUNS over the next couple of seasons, I really enjoyed my year and look forward to even better times over the next couple of seasons.”

“We are really close down at the club, I suppose the club is in a unique situation, there is a strong bond between us and we want to achieve something special.”

McKenzie said he didn’t entertain the thought if returning to Victoria whilst renewing his contract.

“It’s not even something I thought about, I love it on the Coast and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” McKenzie said.
