Well, I tried to keep the Stewart thing under wraps, but then the club goes and does this crap. Okay, I'm done. Someone else can do their dirty work from now on.
Maybe get Wright on ask a Hawk and grill him about this

Agent, it was your duty to falsify how well Kade was doing at Box hill. Your Box Hill reporters have let you daow, and now the world knows, and it wouldn't surprise me if he got a tag next week.

He's a smokey for the Brownlow now, so it's getting pretty hard to keep him under wraps...

Tough decision with Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne, Gibson etc....

Seems to be a balance of wanting to phase out the old generation while bringing in the next, but the old generation are still performing so well!!

What I would do is if they didn't want to go and the club still wanted to retain them...... I'd offer them the lowest money contract legally available, that way they're only clogging up list space rather than also hogging all of the salary cap.

Seems a strange way to show appreciation to some of the greatest names we have had at the club.

If they're still performing well enough to stay then they'll be paid accordingly. It will still be for unders like they have been for years, but not "lowest legally allowed". They won't ever just be hanging around on the list for the sake of their prior deeds. Both they and the club wouldn't allow it to come to that.

Personally I think all those mentioned could go on again,I don't think any have really showed any signs of slowing down or any type of poor form or anything like that at all.Hodgey obviously was suffering from his injuries before he came out of the side & I'd feel very confident when he comes back & he's cherry ripe he'd be fit& Firing quickly;).

I hope Hodgey can get to 300 games he deserves it:thumbsu:;).

No reason to get rid of any of Hodge, Burgoyne or Gibson. We will already offload some other senior guys that aren't in the best 22 like Spangher and Whitecross.

So if come end of 2017 all 4 announce they are going to retire. What prediction would you have for our 2018 season? We would bottom out and bottom out hard.

If we manage it like Geelong did and like we did last season with Hale and Lake we can avoid this. This is a business after all.
some of the youngies are gonna be stars you know... they will benefit from senior players till ready to take over

Those old enough to remember how the club treated Tucky will know that this is not that harsh. The way the club cut Tucky down in his prime, he could have played on to 600 and we wouldn't have to put up with all this talk about boomer. ;-)

Hodge, Mitch, Burgers and Gibbo should all play on without doubt.
What happens at the end of 2017 will be the interesting one. Personally, the way they are playing they could go on again after that but probs doubtful. Imagine how much space and money we will have when they all do go.
Surely we stand to pick up some quality in 2017/2018/2019.

Gralin do we get any percentage of the players payments off our TPP cap that have played atleast 10 seasons and at the age of 30?
As of next year there is no veterans allowance. Also as none of our players who qualify would be on a contract from 2012 or earlier we would be operating under the new rules which expire at the end if this season. It's a % under 1.3 on total TPP, I read it as per player but it's unclear whether they are saying 130k per veteran can be added to TPP or not.
From next year TPP for all clubs will be raised by the average of veteran payments for the 16 clubs not including GWS and GCS who would probably mess with the average too much.
