Still quiet on the Hartung, WhiteX and Langers front.

At what round do we get nervous?

Its Round 12, and they haven't signed. Similar scenarios and people have Danger and Aish leaving their clubs. Everyone seems to have written off Suckling as a UFA.

People may feel comfortable about Langers due to his family history, but he is still unsigned.

So why isn't there a concern about Hartung at least?

Langers and Hartung are at that awkward stage between reserves and best 22 at the moment. I imagine management advice was to hold off on contracts not to hold the club to ransom but to give them a chance to justify a higher wage.

Hartung is increasing the amount he can justifiably ask for with every game so far. Would expect he'll be signed up by the end of July.

Langers has gone a little backwards from his glorious finish last year and wouldn't have had much change (up or down) on what might have been offered at the start of the year. He'll be backing himself to finish strong and consequently might sign late August.

Not sure what to make of Whitecross though. There would be hesitancy from both parties for different reasons to sign a contract right now.

Billy will re-sign soon. A few weeks ago when he got the Rising Star nomination he said he's in talks with the club about re-signing a new contract.

Basically doesn't want to do a contract now, but wants to get his form back and *then* look at it. I read that as Hawthorn offered him less than he is worth in peak form, and he'd like to demonstrate he deserves a better deal (either here or somewhere else). Fair play to him if so.

Wouldn't mind Stringer but we'd need to do more to make that deal happen...a fair bit more. Your first rounder though around pick 10-11 would easily get the deal done.

I suspect he will. Too good for VFL but too old to improve enough to be a constant in our AFL side.

He would bring good guidance and leadership to a young side. I'd be happy for him to stay and help develop our next gen at VFL if he can accept that his chances to play at AFL level will be very limited.
