Ineresting we are rushing to sign these contracts now , McVeigh was contracted to the end of 15 anyway , McGlynn I would of waited to see how he went this year till I gave him a 2 year deal at 30 , can understand Rohan and Smith

"Rushing" might be overstating it. I think you have to also be mindful of critcism insofar as we don't know the full amount of the contract. It may be that the deal was really good for the club.

With all the sound and fury leading to sfa in the draft period in reality getting a core group sorted at good value should not be discounted.

Let's keep this thread on topic please. I have moved a few posts to the dedicated thread discussing the McVeigh re-signing.

There's a post on the Swans facebook page from someone called Allen Ray stating "Is there any truth in the article in the Herald Sun this morning which inferred that Shane Mumford was prepared to stay at the Swans on less money than his previous contract"? Anyone got any idea what he's on about?

Davy,

Comment was made by Andrew Hamilton in Courier-Mail - refer article as per attached link.

To be honest, Andrew stating anything really isn't that important, as he is not a very reliable football writer & as an example of this, I believe that the following highlighted comment points this out.

"It sounded like a poor soap opera plot when the unlicensed Franklin’s car was involved in a prang and it emerged Hannebery was the driver." (Amazing to think that cars actually need their own licence these days), whereas an accurate journo would have written an uninsured car which is what the rumour was.

I am led to believe that the Hawks did offer Mumford more money than the kings ransom offered by GWS. Interesting to see how the Hawks can offer that money when they are complaining about Sydney having the COLA, which was recently removed. Lake was highest paid player at Dogs, Burgoyne was highest paid player at Power, Hodge, Mitchell, Sewell, Lewis, Roughead all are A graders so getting top money... so not sure how they can afford everyone plus Mumford... & still pay bonuses for Premiership win...

We need to lock Tippett away now, not that i think he wants to leave, however he is nearly the best power forward in the game now. Kicked more goals than any player last year( in the second half of they year when he played) and is averaging 4 goals a game so far this year .

Priorities should be
1. Tippett
2. Mitchell
3. Membrey( really think he is going to be a good player)

Where did people get the idea that Tippett was off contract at the end of this year? Every article I've ever read stated he signed a four year deal with the Swans and comes off contract in 2016. Even the original post in this thread states 2016. Unless he's signed a weird contract that gets him out after two years?

Cunningham set to renew his contract for two more seasons!!!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-06-18/swans-lock-up-harry

HARRY Cunningham is set to re-sign with the Sydney Swans to the end of 2016, his manager says.

Matt Bain, of Stride Sports Management, told AFL.com.au on Wednesday that Cunningham, who was due to come out of contract at the end of this season, was on the verge of signing a new two-year deal with the Swans.
