Seems like every year we have a huge list of contracts to tie up. lol. I suppose it's good list management to have contracts staggered. Hope to re-sign Johnson, Everitt, B.Jack, Lamb, McGlynn, Mumford and Smith.

Don't think Morton and White will be at the club next year. Shaw might be a year to year based contract like Bolton who might sign up for another year.

Rohan and Mitchell will sign on the club has backed them in after injury concerns

Updated.
  • - Removed all traded and delisted players
  • - Added Buddy's 9 year contract
  • - Made assumptions for the new players:
    • - Laidler 2 years
    • - Derickx 1 year
    • - first and second round draftees 3 years
    • - others 2 years, including rookie listers.
If anyone can find any new info, particularly the ones currently listed under expiring 2014 as I can't believe we have so many coming out of contract, please let me know!

Dean Towers and Harrison Marsh are listed as being out of contract in 2014, do you think they are on 3 years as 1st and 2nd rounders though?

For your sake I hope not :D

I'm just wildly stabbing in the dark to be honest.

Tom Mitchell and Nick Smith, GWS will be going hard at Mitchell hope he signs with us, but i have a feeling they are gonna offer him a deal he cant refuse..

Lots of VIC clubs will be sniffing around Nick Smith.

Highest priority to get these 2 signed.

I don't know where this idea I hate him came from, I just think his brother will be better.

I completely agree it would be great if we had some more information about player contracts from the club

Honestly think we should be able to sign on Mitchell, With Goodes out of contract at the end of the year, the fact he is a father son selection and the fact he was on a decent contract to begin with I kind of expect him to sign on early in the year.

That being said the fact that GWS probably do need another midfielder or two will mean they probably will approach him.

Absolutely especially how much Silvagni was into him expect GWS to make him a huge offer.

These are probably the top 5 key signings for me in order of criticality to our list management

1. Tom Mitchell
2. Alex Johnson
3. Nick Smith
4. Gary Rohan
5. Craig Bird

Personally I think Rohan maybe a key for us even at 4th priority, I have a gut feeling that Jets may seek to head back west at the end of his contract and Gaz is the perfect replacement for that 'speedy' outside role, a lot of the 'older' brigade will just take care of themselves cant see any of them going anywhere until retirement.

With some of the older brigade getting close to retirement I am pretty confident on keeping most of these players.

I think the players that will leave us will probably try and leave us for greater opportunities, hence if these 5 players get constant gametime next year we should be fine Finders crossed at least...

If we did a top 10 most valuable list most are already signed up beyond 2012. Kennedy is the main one we need to wrap up though.
Josh is already signed until 2017. By this time he will be 29 and the premium mid in the comp. I doubt we will look to upgrade his contract until Goodsie, LRT, Rhyce, ROK & Teddy retire. So 2015-2016 probably.

I think there are far more urgent contracts than Joey's. Smithy, Birdie, Tommy Mitchell, Harry. AJ, Teddy, Pykie & Gazza all are needing new contracts this year as they run out. Goodsie, Benny, ROK, LRT & Rhyce may not continue in 2015. Benny was trying do hard last season because he knows his premiership window is closing.Pykie probably only has 2 years as well so we need to make sure the ruck division is sound and that is why we should make sure young Sammy Naismith is on solid ground.

some players on the 2014 end contract list will be 'wait and see' players and will be reassessed at season's end. But if Biggs, Lloyd and X, Deano and Timmy have good seasons there is no reason not to retain them Deano must step up this year, if he doesn't play seniors he will be delisted.

I completely forgot about this thread, thanks Grim for updating!

Structurally AJ is arguably the crucial one, we really missed him in 2013 and it was only thanks to Rampe's great year that we were able to partially cover him. Key defenders don't grow on trees and if he makes a full recovery from the ACL and recaptures his 2012 form, the Victorian clubs may try to lure one of our Xavier boys back to Melbourne.

Tom Mitchell was offered a good deal by gws before he elected to be a father son( think he was targeted by the giants as one of their ore draft selections)

The fact that he turned them down then and he's has relationships at the swans means I have no fear of him leaving at the time being

Man, I'm pretty surprised at how many contracts we currently have sitting there for 2014. A premiership could do one of two things for most of these guys in:

- Give them the excuse they've done what they wanted and can move on for retirement/'greater opportunities' (read: Cash) etc.
- Cement in their mind that this is the club they have won a (or another) premiership with and as such could never leave.

I would think Goodes, LRT & Shaw would be on no more than a 1 year extension past 2014 if they don't hang the boots up. I'm also expecting to see Walsh & Locky both gone at the end of their respective contracts too. I recall being a bit worried about Jets when he last signed on as I think the WA pull is strong and with Goodes in all likelyhood departed he may want to end his career back home in WA (particularly if he gets another premiership by then).

Mitchell may get some huge interest from GWS as well as Perris, Rampe and Parker. I'd be surprised if they didn't go after them. However, if given enough opportunity to cement spots in our strating squad over the next year or two I'd think they would become part of our core leadership group in the next 3-5.

I wouldn't think Tippett would move again given the image he'd portray would be one of a disloyal mercenary which would lead to not being offered as much given the risk he'd be gone at contracts end. PLus, I think he genuinely likes the club and lifestyle. It suits the surfer boy.

No chance tippett leaves, seems pretty happy at the club. Mitchell, will be established in a premiership calibre side, is already on decent coin and has already turned down gws once.

Jetta is close to goodes but I'm hoping he establishes a nice little partnership between himself and buddy. Similar to what buddy and Cyril had

Just a reminder (more directed at posters from other boards, rather than Sydney board regulars). I'd like to keep this thread to help Swans fans keep track of the various media reports and other sources confirming who is under contract / coming out of contract. This is not the place for trade/draft/free agency speculation - you can discuss that here. I have moved the last few posts there.
