We should get all these blokes to have a chat with Jed Lamb. He's going alright!

Probably would have been in Cunningham's shoes if he had not decided to leave half way through last year.
There are not too many Swans rejects that go on to bigger and better things.
I guess the moral of the Jed Lamb story is set yourself up financially if you are going to leave.

Today Jon Ralph said Mitchell is contracted until 2017. I am confused. Is he out of contract at the end of the season or did he sign a five year deal in 2012. I seem to vaguely remember some noise about a 5 year deal at the time. Appreciate some clarity if anyone knows. Thanks.

I don't know where he got that information as i heard nothing from the club regarding Mitchell at the end of 2012.

I recall hearing something about a big deal when he joined the club. Gws were in his ear so I remember the club have him close to a million dollars over the coarse of the contract. I think afl rules cap the amount 1st and 2nd year players can earn so that would mean in all likelihood the club may have offered a 5 year deal to get the money through... So the 5 year deal could be a possibility but I guess only he and the club knows for sure

Unsure how reliable it is but...

Sydney's Tom Mitchell was another kid who had serious leverage, his well-credentialed father being offered a job by GWS when it was seeking to woo Tom. Like Viney, father Barry ended up working for his old club. Tom also received a five-year contract. North should do well out of McDonald, described as a ''genuine utility''. He is regarded as a probable top tenner; some have him higher. North seems to be on the rise, hence it is likely to get him at a later pick. Therein lies one of the perversities of the new bidding regime - that higher-placed teams do better from father-sons than lowly ones.

For some reason I want to say Mitchell is on a 5 year contract @ $300k per year. it seems about right if memory serves me correct.

Considering how hard it's been for him to get in the side I'm glad f he's locked in past the 'might miss a finals campaign' doldrums

Damien Barrett is a fool. Sliding doors today going on about all the teams should be chasing Sam Reid as we're not giving him a go. I don't know a player who gets more opportunities than him!!

How exactly are we not giving him a go? :drunk: for some reason the VIC media really overrate Sam Reid.
Well I do rate him highly for the future but I can't remember a time he's ever been dropped unless injured. Victorians are after any swans player they can get

This. I read something about "a real potential" for us losing ROK, LRT, Shaw & Goodes this year (if we win a premiership they're going to want to go out on top apparently). Then after he's won his second premiership Hanners will want another challenge at another club (read: Melbourne).

They just pull shit out of the air and hope no one looks into it or brings it back up in a few years time when said situation is proven so far off track it's just ridiculous and shouldn't have even been written in the first place.

I always get the impression most media reports about our list management is more based on hopefully/wishful thinking more-so than logical realistic facts. They go "hey I like Parker... He might be squeezed out of Sydney because of Buddy and come over to Hawthorn". It makes no sense and has no support. It is not media, it is opinion. My opinion is we will recruit Ablett next year after he breaks contract to get here and the AFL will chip in paying his contract for us because we are the AFL's pet... So flippin what?

Yeh it is hilarious.

Go back and look at some of the htreads at the start of 2012 and the way our list was disparaged.

The usual moos are falling over themselves trying to garner any conspiracy theory they can to recruit them now. The Hawks board is particularly funny with this stuff. It is impossible on one hand for Sydney to win a premiership and recruit some forwards but perfectly logical for them to win one and recruit the best mids in the comp.

Dickheads, dickheads as far as the eye can see*

Yup.

Bringing up our clubs name gives them an instant case of COLA Derangement Syndrome that exhibits itself with a string of nonsensical, non-factual and hypocritical thought processes that make zero sense to any person with half a brain or common sense.

Maybe it's a good thing that many teams seem interested. At the end of the day players want to be traded for many reasons, so at least this way we will have some great trade value for those that do. Let the bidding wars begin

Trade DRex back to Richmond for Rance? That'd be a long term beneficial trade I'd suspect.... :drunk:
