On SEN just now they said they've "heard" that Mitchell will be on 650-700k next year.

I assume be "heard" they mean either "made up stuff at the pub" or "saying what Eddie told me to say".

At least that guarantees he'll still be with us next season:rolleyes:

If we lose Mal and O'keefe this year, it is really open up the door for Frawley. There is a strong need for a back up in case Ted down like O'keefe next year.

I'm sure mitchell signed a 5 year 1million contract when he joined. (2012 _ 2016). Where do the rest of these figures come from?

Half lies, misleading quotes, exagerations, flat out lies with or without an agenda and trolling from other people.

First Carlton through the media state I was shocked to learn he is on over $400 000. That could mean with game payments he is on 401 in any given year of his contract ignoring the remaining 4 years.

You could argue he is right to dismiss the first 2 years but we wouldn't have recruited him if we did when considering our offer.

Ted still has 1-2 strong years of footy ahead of him, Grundy has been great this year and does not deserve to lose his spot. If frawley came, he would not be guranteed a starting spot. Would not think he is in contention to come to the swans

If goodes is going to go on next season, he said we was going to take a substantial paycut, on currently 650k.

Pretty sure that Andy Maher on SEN plucked this figure from his a hole. That guy has a regular habit of stating his own opinion as fact. He has absolutely no idea and no credibility.

Seems like mal is gone. Disappointing but gives the likes of Rohan, Biggs and Jones the chance to cement a spot. My money is on Biggs.

You seem certain Malceski is leaving, is there a basis for that? Just wondering. :p

Maybe, i think he might be just angling to get a better deal. I reckon Mal will still be a Swan next year because i think with a retirement or 2 along with RO'K leaving there should be enough change laying around to give Mal a better deal. :p

I hope you're right.

Looking at ROK's situation it's the classic example of why FA was brought in. Senior player not getting a game. But seeing Mal play every round in AA form leaving isn't great. But we'll have this every year going forward.

I would think Goodes would play on for just above the base rate, money wouldn't be the factor with him and a new contract. Form would

I think we have to look at ROK and see how you can play one season to long and how the game demands grow with you unable to keep up, its a very big ask for Goodes to back it up again and still be able to provide to the team in 2015.

Personally my belief is he has one last September left in his magnificent career go all out Goodsey leave nothing in the tank :)

If Mal leaves it won't be only because of money.

These things need to be win/win where both the player & the club benefit from such a move of a much loved & respected player/s.
Schneider & Dempster come to mind. Dempster would have probably sailed off into the sunset after another year at our club. Ross Lyon 'revived' his career

From club point of view, history says we only give 1 year contracts to such players once they hit 30. Refer to Jude Bolton. There is no more respected player at the club than Jude & he was once shopped around to see what was on offer. We also may have someone waiting in the wings for Mal's role that may move on for further opportunity. Biggs comes to mind. It will reduce salary cap pressure for a player that the club thinks may have 1 year or at best 2 years left in his body.

From Malceski's point of view, he knows that a club is willing to sign him on for a guaranteed 2 years , perhaps 3, which gives him the capacity to earn a final 800k to $1M to finish his career on. Compare that deal to a one year 400K deal that leaves him vulnerable should things go wrong for him.

Should it be Freo he goes to, then it is where his wife is from & he will love the climate. If it's Melbourne he goes to, then Mal would have a great relationship with Roosy. I think Mal will go to Freo to spend some time with Ross Lyon who would have full respect of Mal's capabilities & he will go with our club's full blessing.

That's assuming we won't offer him a 2 or 3 year deal and that Freo would have the salary space and/or need for him. :p I see what you mean though, Melbourne sounds logical. but I think he'll still be a Swan next year.
