3 years seems a bit excessive for a 23 yr old who has played 1 game. Surely he must be getting to the stage where he's going to be playing regular senior football from next year to justify that deal, but if we do land another ruck, he suddenly drops back to 3rd in line. Apparently they do rate him, so interesting to see what happens.
Still can't believe we signed Derickx for 2, woeful list management...hopefully this isn't another similar mistake (surely we still delist Drex, free up the list space and just cop the salary cap chunk he'll take out - money for nothing but it's not much different to what we get when he's actually playing anyway).

Drex is a spud, but he's also a known quantity. Better to have him for a year, than recruit someone who could be as bad, or worse, for 2 years. That is, unless there is somebody absolutely amazing available, and we have literally no room for them. But we're better off spending the money we've already dedicated to Drex on him, and of absolutely necessary play him, than delist him, pay him anyway, and spend money on another non-guarantee.

Big, big men like Naismith don't grow on trees. He will start to mature body wise from now on.
With the sub rule gone, the second specialist ruckman that can pinch hit as a forward, will once again become an asset.

Sub rule agree will help

You would hope next year he can play some senior footy and establish himself somewhat

Nankervis contract status will be interesting

Guessing the Jack bros are off limits?

Would've thought so. Kieran is a club captain. Going nowhere.

Brandon wasn't getting games for the last 12mths, though. 2 months ago, he might have lept at a chance for regular footy.

But he's been a regular for a while now.

My understanding is that Kieren still has not signed on past this year. Apparently that doesnt matter to anyone. Jetta may stay and he may be the big name that requests a trade.

Erm, Keiran Jack still isn't signed on past 2015? This is bad. That's quite a few players who still haven't re-signed, that's like a quarter of the list including Rookies.

Rhyce Shaw and Adam Goodes are retired. I can see the club cutting a few players; A. Johnson, B. Jack and Marsh. Alex Johnson won't get re-signed but will likely get delisted and picked back up in the rookie draft. I really wonder what's going to happen with the rookies.

I think Brandon Jack might have saved himself with that good month of footy. Agree with AJ going to the rookie list.

It's a good 2 weeks on since we last talked about Kieran Jack. Draft is in a bit over a month and pre-season drafts a month after. Not so sure about Brandon Jack but signs don't look good if he hasn't signed back on, and neither does it for Kieran Jack. It's worrying that we have a club captain who's contract is about to run out and a new one doesn't look anywhere in sight.

Anyone find confirmation he expired this year?
He was talking about it on the Sunday Football Show earlier this year around June. He was quite dismissive of returning to RL.

From 2013:

The Daily Telegraph can reveal the Swans will today announce that Goodes, a dual Brownlow Medal winner, has committed to the club through to the end of the 2014 season while Jack has signed a new multi-year deal.

The big-name re-signings come just months after the recruitment of Adelaide big man Kurt Tippett.

The challenge now for the Swans will be to secure their other grand final heroes. Lewis Jetta, Josh Kennedy, Daniel Hannebery and Shane Mumford are all in the last year of their contracts.

Sydney boss Andrew Ireland admits it will take some sacrifice from the players to keep the team together.

There was of course this article from 2014...
http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/ki...swans-to-the-nrl/story-fndv7pj3-1227047312375

Speaking on Triple M’s Grill Team this morning, the Swans co-captain said he would definitely consider making the switch if approached by an NRL club.

“You’d never say never, I tell you,” Jack said.

“I mean I loved rugby league as a kid, I certainly did but I’ve found a path in AFL and I’m rapt with that, but I mean I can certainly see why players do it ... it’s certainly a big challenge and there is a bit of a financial reward there but the challenge it offers these players … it can be really rewarding.”

Jack then added: “I’ll just say yes ... yes ... why not?”

In short who the heck knows what's going on. Contract in 2013 was for 2 years.
