Im sure there's some kind of unspoken understanding within the club that you cannot go to the hawks. My hunch is Hawthorn will be the team he will go to should he leave.
They more than anyone will give him the chance of success & Sam Mitchell won't go too much longer.

I wouldn't have considered Hawthorn. Hawks would probably offer him about the same we could. My hunch is Hawthorn will be the team he will go to should he leave.

Just Heeney, Mitchell, Papley and Lloyd to go, in that order. The rest meh
That's standard for drafted players.Am I reading it correctly that Heeney is out of contract year's end?
Surely clubs will through the cheque book at him and say name your price? That's standard for drafted players.

Luckily, no. He's not an unrestricted or restricted free agent and I can't envision any circumstance in which he'd request or we'd facilitate a trade. Don't stress, he'll re-sign.Surely clubs will through the cheque book at him and say name your price?
Thanks kneecapper, stressed I was!Luckily, no. He's not an unrestricted or restricted free agent and I can't envision any circumstance in which he'd request or we'd facilitate a trade. Don't stress, he'll re-sign.
Thanks for the clarificationAll players taken in the National Draft are subject to a standard minimum two year contract. We likely have already re-signed him for year 3 and maybe beyond before the start of last season (same with Mills) but haven't gone public with it.
Without the confirmation for the purposes of this list we list all drafted players as two years and rookies at one year
Yeah only way you lose young guns is like Aish where they request trade. Thanks for the clarification
Boyd is another example. But GWS could have very easily played hardball on that and, thus far, it shows exactly why most sensible clubs are reluctant to throw a bunch of money at promising rather than proven players. Just crazy that they had 10% of their cap playing VFL last year and on the same $$ as Lance Franklin.Yeah only way you lose young guns is like Aish where they request trade.
i have a feeling thats been going on for a while now.Perhaps the players have done a hawthorn and agreed to take slightly less to stay together?
