If players are not going to be retained next year they would know by now. The players had one on ones with the coaches after the season. In some cases this would have been to tell the player they wont be retained next year

Someone asked Hawksley on twitter, I stumbled across it this morning. Said he isn't sure if he is getting another contract, it would depend on list management I assume.

They will tell the players getting delisted this year maybe couple of days after the best and fairest dinner.
Or maybe after the Ressies GF, or cross-conference?

I think you can sign a 2 year contract where one year is as a rookie and the next year is as a senior. There has been talk that Majak Daw has a similar deal at North.
On this year it would be unlikely you'd promote him but last year it was a surprise when he wasn't so it wouldn't be too much of a shock if we gave him a two year deal, if possible, back then.

If we accepte McKeever, Raines, McGrath and Huddo are dealt with - why would the club be holding back on Ace and Bartlett now 8 have been trimmed from the list? Trade ploy rather than delisting to Rookie like is hinted at with Retzy? Would Ace and or Cal be of interest to Crows for Tippett? I just can't fathom the benefit so if anyone else out there can please share.

It could be the other way. Both players may want to check out what other clubs are prepared to offer before re-committing with us. I would be surprised to see us offer either player any more than a 1 year extension on pretty minimal dollars. Another club offering a 2 year deal might have them considering their options.
I don't see either of them leaving, mind you, but I reckon the most logical reason for the delay is that they are simply still negotiating.
