Ok, some updates:

  • Danyle Pearce has signed on. Speculated to be 3 years.
  • Michael Pettigrew has signed on. I'm guessing for 2 years.
  • Tom Logan has signed on. I'm guessing for 1 year.
  • Matthew Lobbe has signed on. I'm guessing for 2 years.

Oh man, why the hell would they sign MP on for another 2 years. I'll be spewing if so, I think he's lucky to get 1 year...

honestly if pettgrew was played in the forward line I think he would be our best 3rd tall in the team...

I just want him down forward...

Last years National Draftees given automatic 2 year contracts

PSD picks are given 1 year contracts which means Davenports runs out this year unless he has signed for another year.

That is how I understand it to work anyway.

Anyone else reckon M.Moltop's head might be on the block?

I hope not, I know we have an abundance of the Mossie Fleet, but he looks class in the SANFL, Better than Rodan when they both play there, Where as Matthew Westhoff may play a half average game now and then in the twos and gets a contract extention. Blokes like Stewart and Stewart are best on each week at SANFL level but only get a quater of a look in!

I would hate to be a new draftee to our club over the past few years, Choco has some sort of beliefe that untill you play 50-70 games of Senior football you are not AFL worthy and if you play 100 AFL games your automatically selected. Select on form and have no prior runs on the board.

Dav was pick #78 in the national draft - so I assumed 2 years for him.

me dumb brain fade

ok first ime drafted players get a 2 year conract, second time drated players only get a one year contract.

Davenport having previously been at geelong I asume he is a previously drafted plyer.

^ True. I still assume 2 years though - it'll be pointless to fill a spot on the primary list with a flaky 12 month draft choice.

A good comparison would be dew.

Also with the Nick Stevens thing, I don't really remember it, but why didn't we just take whatever someone was offering rather then giving him to Carlton for free (just about).

Melbourne had reportedly offered their second pick in the 2003 National Draft (1st Round, #5) to us in a straight swap.

However the two Stevenses (Nick and Max) refused the move, only citing Collingwood as the prefered destination very late in the trade week.

We went to Collingwood requesting a deal involving Alan Didak. Collingwood refused, giving a take-or-leave selection of their first pick in the '03 ND (1st Round, #17) plus a selection of one of Heath Scotland, Mark McGough or Steve McKee.

Faced with the prospect of sending a 23-year old onballer coming off his best ever year to our arch-rivals and the pre-Grand Final favourites in exchange for dross, we rightly held firm and sent him into the PSD, where Carlton met his terms with their pick (PSD, #2) after the Bulldogs had already committed to taking Jade Rawlings with #1.

New Deals For Youngsters
PORT Adelaide has reached new deals with two more young players, with Nick Salter and Jason Davenport recommitting to the club.

Turns out Davenport was on a 1 year deal. I'm assuming salter has signed for 2 years and Davenport has signed on for 1 year.

My god.

All the Davenport hate all of a sudden is crazy.

He won Best And Fairests at Geelong in the VFL, was a fantastic player, and won a couple of games off his own boot this year in a dysfunctional team.

Give him a chance for christ sake.

Great to hear of Salter & Boak signing on. Dav too. At the very worst he is a depth player for Hitchcock.

He is a lazy player.Did you see his efforts against essendon.wow he was shockingly bad.One good fourth term effort for the yr, yep he is so great(sarcasm intended).Great vfl player like thomson and lower yep but thats as good as he ll ever be

I don't have Davenport hate. I have Davenport indifference.

There are plenty of guys in our current squad that I would prefer to see in his role.

yeah Davenport is lazy.. and also has poor people and media skills. Maybe his tank isn't sufficient which is why he was tried as a small (actually probably tall) forward, but lazy, I think not, seems passionate and willing to drag the team on at all times, on and off the field.

Right now Banner is probably doing well enough to keep him out though... and has been converting. So unfortunate that some of Dav's great looking runs have resulted in posters and behinds this year.

Massively brilliant to see Salter, Dav and Boak all sign together!
