We could theoretically extend their rookie contracts to the end of 2019, yeah. After that we’d have to delist and re-draft them if we didn’t want to take up spots on the senior list.

Glad to know :thumbsu:

We can also go into deficit for tne 2019 draft. Don't need to have all available points/picks in just 2018

Think you could break down those that might go at end 2018 into a few categories:

Free agent:
Atley - Have somewhat addressed our need for speed recently, but can't afford to let any go. Imagine we will re-sign him.

Injury:
Jacobs - If fit, will stay, but who knows...
Wright - Same. Is also a free agent, but even if he recovers from injuries this year, other clubs will see him as too high risk considering injury history.
Watson - Would be harsh to delist him, but could see him moved to the rookie list.

Age:
Waite - Probably his last year.
Thompson - Depends on how Durdin, Nielson, etc develop as to whether this is his last year. Could do a Spud and have several one-year extensions.

Not good enough:
Anderson - Gone, unless he can really turn it around.
Hrovat - Might be harsh, but if this year is anything to go by we are making the call sooner. Needs to perform our could be gone.
Hartung - Seems the club has been very direct in what he needs to improve. If he doesn't do that, wouldn't surprise if they make a quick call on him too.
Morgan - Took a punt here. If not looking the goods, another quick call might be made.

Then there's the ones that might not necessarily be out of contract, but could have trade value if we are looking for draft points:
Mountford - OOC in 2018 and could head back to WA.
Dumont - SA clubs would be interested for the right price. If we need points and he hasn't cemented a spot in our 22 because we prefer other youth coming through, could go.
Goldstein - Really hope he can get back into some great form - and think he can. But time will tell.
Daw - Might depend on what happens with Goldy. If can't cement a spot he might look for other opportunities.

That's 14 players there and I'd say about half will be gone at end 2018 as we look to take ~5 live picks in the 2018 draft and possibly a rookie upgrade or two. All the others OOC in 2018 I hope we keep. I reckon Waite and Anderson are the two most likely to go. After that, possibly Thompson, Morgan & Daw will go. Then it might be some injured guys that unfortunately have to make way.

They must be confident his body will hold up

Don't believe everything you read mate.

Players get written off around here when they get a head cold.
