The point Barrybran is making is that whether you call it pick 5 & 6 or 9 & 10, you have access to the exact same players given that you never had access to the F/S and Academy players. Saying you had access to those players is misrepresenting the nature of the current F/S & Academy bidding rules.

The only time that slide matters is if you're relying on those picks carrying points to match bids, then you're getting screwed.
You missed free agency comps in all of that

Wrong pic mate. Needs to be Massey

The issue is that Green is basically the best player in the league at what he does. ie. has one dimension but is extremely good at it.

So either Sharp becomes that or he’s just another plodder who is decent on the ball. One dimensional players carry a lot of risk if they can’t become the best.
Sharp isn't 1D. I think he was 2nd for uncontested possessions at the Champs. Is a real good link up player after stoppages if that's what you want in a player.

Also, his ball winning is definitely a tier below Rowell, Green, Cripps, Wines etc

I think he would end up with something like a Jack Redden all said and done.

Duursma is a flanker with midfield potential…

One of our biggest list needs is a long term ruckman.
Cal has CDT as the #1 highest rated player in the open pool ✅
CDT is a ruckman ✅
We have another pick to take the best available pure mid (our other major list need).

BF nuffies will never be happy…

Just a quick question, are you sure you're not a closet Bombers supporter with a name like that?

He can’t even out ruck players in his own age bracket. He’d get an absolute bath by literally any WAFL League ruck. Would be Barnett 2.0

I see Sharp as becoming Dunkley-lite. Just an absolute facilitator that can rack it up himself but lifts the game of every other mid he plays with by relying on his contest skills and defensive pressure/tenacity

Redden at pick 2. 🤦

Now I'm not necessarily advocating we take CDT with pick 1 or 2, but calling him Barnett 2.0 is an ignorant take.
I genuinely cannot fathom his hype. He’s great at ground level, like a fourth midfielder even! You know what he isn’t though? A midfielder. He’s a ruck that can’t even beat his own age group in the contest. He has regularly been beaten throughout the year. We don’t need a Jackson, and by the same token admittedly all we do need is someone competitive, but if the rules are going to change to allow for less physically dominant rucks and more skillful rucks, I’d rather just get A Reid training there full time. If we were drafting CDT at the Hawks pick then f***ing sick that’s awesome get him in. But the talk is at 2. And at 1 and 2 we need players that fix our ball winning woes. First and foremost. You don’t need an elite ruck to win premierships, or even win games.

True but even in the champs, Emmett looked better as a ruck, IMO.

Not sure who he plays alongside in CTL but he still averages only 5 more hitouts.

That and his ruckwork just doesn't seem all that great, from watching him in the champs and CTL.
The Pioneers had a better ruck playing for them than Duff-Tytler this year IMO.

Lol just spoke to my Bombers fan old man about the Merrett situation and he's lost the plot.

Reckons Essendon would be better off making him go into the draft instead of facilitating a trade, forgoing any compensation out of spite. Would rather they get absolutely nothing than the minimum 2 first rounders that he would be guaranteed to generate.

I reminded him Essendon are in fact at the bottom of the ladder and probably can't afford to lose their best player for 0 return. "Don't care - need to show the younger players that trade requests under contract won't be tolerated".

Supreme melt. I genuinely hope that fan base never gets to experience success as they truly deserve it.

In a perfect world this is how my dream draft plays out - not bothering with bids etc. just with the open pool, will add compo picks obviously as they are actual factors

Pick 1: Willem Duursma - West Coast
Pick 2: Cooper Duff-Tytler - Essendon
Pick 3: Josh Lindsay - Richmond
Pick 4: Sam Grlj - Carlton
Pick 5: Dyson Sharp - West Coast
Pick 6: Sam Cumming - West Coast
Pick 7: Xavier Taylor - North Melbourne
Pick 8: Oliver Greeves - St.Kilda
Pick 9: Mitch Marsh - Hawthorn
Pick 10: Noah Hibbins-Hargraves - Richmond
Pick 11: Aiden Schubert - Sydney
Pick 12: Jacob Farrow - Western Bulldogs
Pick 13: Harley Barker - Fremantle
Pick 14: Jevan Phillipou - GWS
Pick 15: Sullivan Robey - Essendon
Pick 16: Archie Ludowyke - GWS
Pick 17: Lachy Dovaston - West Coast
Pick 18: Louis Emmett - Port Adelaide
Pick 19: Oskar Taylor - Geelong
Pick 20: Blake Bennier - Adelaide

Trades - (all picks that are traded are in their original placings - before compo picks etc)
West Coast trade pick 2 and 13 to Essendon for 5 and 6
Richmond trade pick 4 & F3 to Carlton for pick 9 & F1
North Melbourne trade picks 20,21 & F2 to Gold Coast for pick 6
GWS trade picks 30,36 & F2 to Gold Coast for pick 14
West Coast trade picks 19 & 31 to Gold Coast for pick 15
Port Adelaide trade picks 24 & F2 to Brisbane for pick 16

Compensation -
Oscar Allen - pick 2 (West Coast)
Tom De Koning - pick 9 (Carlton)

Note: I’d probably prefer Taylor or Marsh over Cumming purely for more balance list wise, but I do view Cumming as BPA.

Again I don’t want him with pick 1 or 2 but just have to be careful when quoting his HO stats at the champs. He was playing in a team with three genuine rucks (Emmett and McCarthy being the others) and spent a lot of that time playing forward as all three were given a chance in the ruck.

The new ruck rules will make players like CDT even more palatable and the offical combine measurement of his height and vertical leap will probably tell us whether or not we’ll consider him at pick 1/2.
If he played forward so much then it wouldn't hurt to hit the scoreboard🙄

Bailey Williams had pretty much identical year despite being a leapfrog that can't kick straight.
CDT a better centre half forward option, Williams better deeper.
And I'm Samantha Fox because I say so.

He is not a ruckmans a$$hole. Doesn't look like one, doesnt play like one. His hit outs are below garbage.

Cut this sheer deluded lunacy out.

Hes a tall agile player and that's it.
👍Would have gone in the mid-late 30's last year
