Why is it the loudest whiners in the media about the assistance package are from Essendon? Does it burn them so much, that no matter how bad we get they're still more dysfunctional than we are?
Yep, the funny thing is the AFL changed the rules to NGAs late last year after a handful of clubs missed out on the system/rort. The late change literally handed the Bombers the talent around where their pick was and a first round pick to only make it harder two years later to rort the system generate a first round pick. Did we hear Watson and Hird saying it’s unfair to the rest of the AFL?

Hird is the biggest Eagles hater. Genuinely think he is going to cry every time he talks about them.

Anyway swim your way through Hirds tears and Cal thinks we will go to the draft with 1 and 2 but clubs with multiple picks will likely come for pick 2.

Hird ran a club that cheated in 2 years worth of afl games and then compromised the game for 2 more years because of the sanctions.

No idea why that grub is allowed to be around any sort of football or football media

I don't really understand our strategy when it comes to recruiting established players. Obviously we aren't a "destination club" at the minute but we aren't chasing the likes of Merrett, Curnow, Petracca etc. A 26/27 year old Shai Bolton isn't really what a rebuilding side needs and I doubt would've been interested in joining anyway.

We seem to have a fascination with recruiting players who either don't move the needle, don't address key areas of need, or both. Baker and Owies cost us a downgrade from 3 to 16. Graham was free. None of those are full time mids let alone good ones. Flynn is at best a slight upgrade on BBW, Hunt I guess didn't cost anything. Now we're looking at Starcevich, Tylar Young, Dev Robertson, previously Sam Butler. Not really inspiring.

I'm pretty confident a fit Bo Allan can come in and play a role at half back. We have Cole, McCarthy, Baker, Duggan, Hough, Maric who can all play roles in defence. Plus Ginbey is who is a semi key defender these days. But who is going to keep Harley company in the middle? There are guys like Constable and Parfitt killing it in the WAFL who are mid 20s with AFL experience that we could get for nothing that we just aren't interested in. For some reason we exclusively want to play kids and players that aren't really mids (Ryan, Hough etc.) in the middle. It surprises me that we are interested in someone like Tylar Young who is 27 and hasn't really set the world on fire but at the same time we seem to be pinning our hopes on 20 year olds and a 33 year old Yeo not being injured in the most pivotal area of the field. If Simpkin was better I would suggest going after him given he wants midfield time.

We want to use our 1st rounders on kids, Baker coming in being the exception.

That leaves 2nd rounders and later picks for trades. Which doesnt land guns. It lands role players.

I don't think he rated McVee at 11, just said that's what Demons would be chasing and ultimately, probably end up with a pick in the 20s. I think he was factoring how far picks are getting pushed out.
Dockers have pick 39 that's enough.

He was a rookie and is a lock down defender that averages 15 touches a game .

If Melbourne wanted to trade him on potential then they should have played him in a more attacking role like he wants .

Dockers shouldn't have to pay more because he might end up a good winger

Drug cheat upset at a team using the AFLs rules

Also wrong with nearly everything he said. As competent on a panel show as he was as a coach

Love it how Hird tells everyone WCE aren’t spending above the soft cap like he knows. But Pyke has made it clear over the last couple days we are
Then also tries to point to OA compo as further evidence of WCE handouts, which is a completely seperate argument.
Bartel and Twomey voices of reason to some extent
Essendon who have benefited almost the most out of any club through both sides of free agency 🤔

Hird is a bitter twisted human.
Lo
He hates Hawthorn.

Hates the Eagles. He hates AFL House.

For someone with half a brain its a shame he turns it off when he gets in front of a camera........or performance enhamcing briefing sessions. ;)

Keep sooking James, just keep sooking. Your opinion is tainted.

Off-field the key to any contract offered, but McQualter would have a relationship with Oliver, and we can afford his contract. 29 in July next year. Worth the risk?
