Ah Chee also makes sense if we don't extend Cripps.

I just don't see Flyin' Ryan requesting a trade.

Would love Ah Chee at the club, but to complement, not replace Ryan.

Nothing alike. Ah Chee plays taller and doesn't run and present anywhere near as hard as Crippa. I'd see this as a concerning development and a sign the club doesn't understand why this playing list fails to produce week after week.

Yup good post Elite

The Ruck should be the number one priority and mids ..seeing that Cameron is gone I would look at Marshall and for the mids Erasmus
Ruck is no longer the #1 priority. As I posted earlier in the week, we're faced with continuing with Flynn/Williams, replacing them with other fringe AFL rucks, or trying to find a young ruck. We should be asking questions and we do need to bring in a ruck but, at this stage, Flynn/Williams look like the best options for 2026.

I don't mind asking the question of Marshall but I don't see why he would cross the country when he's played nearly a decade with the Saints. He'd be better off trying his luck with Geelong or GWS.

There is no doubt in my mind that Harley's signature to stay will move the needle significantly on attracting trades and also keeping potential flight risk draftees. That in of itself might be the reward for paying overs to keep him. Don't be shocked when you see the $$, there is much greater net benefit that just him staying.

Flynn/Williams is simply never the answer and I mean never.

Reidy, Reeves, Moyle, Dodson, Matt Owies on stilts. Anything else

We probably have and got a polite no.
Well we need to solve the ruck issue....we need a quality Ruck

We just can't rock up next year with Flynn B/J Williams and A reid again....A Reid has promise but is still young along with Jack....Bailey tries but is not good enough and Flynn is a poor tap ruckmen I dont mind him around the ground.

I honestly see this as the number one issue in our off season...getting a quality ruck

What do we do ?? can we get anyone ??? we failed getting Jackson English and now Cameron

Do we look at a Soldo or Reidy from freo ?..or just go to the draft and wait 5 years before we get a quality ruck ?

Yeah as mentioned Marshall is unlikely. Will want success and has probably been paid well at the Saints.

Moyle is the one but very unlikely, would have to be a stupid contract to get him to turn his head which I’m not sure we would do.

It has to be something but the cupboard is pretty empty.
Liam Reidy? Not sure if it’s an upgrade but at least it’s another option. Knobel?
McAndrew if the Crows get Draper? Vigo Visatani if Draper or Bryan stay. Even the Blues VFL player looked pretty good and an option.

Either way it can’t be Flynn and BWill only next year again.

You would think it would play a part in getting Warner across in a year or two also.

Well, for starters we don't know who the club's targeting and even if we do target Soldo and Reidy types, there's no evidence they'll be any better than our current setup anyway.

If someone decent wants to come then that's great, otherwise A.Reid should be trained for future ruck duties. Seems able to get himself into good positions in the ruck, just needs more size to compete physically.

Are they considering changing the rules next year for the ruck?? jumping and such?? heard rumors ..that could helps us if they do

I agree that there is promise with young A Reid...and he will put on size along with the rest of the lads over the preseason

I think we can guarantee that Soldo/Reidy would outperform Matt Flynn myself.

Moyle is not an option. Noone else is taking that position from Flynn/Williams in 2026. We need to look beyond 2026 with the ruck position now.

Soldo is 2 years older can can't even outperform Flynn's stats in the SANFL. Hard pass.

Reidy has merit. Won't be getting a gig with Jackson/Fatboy in the seniors.

Getting rid of the bounce, I think.

Swann isn't a fan, nor are the clubs.

Will favour jumping types more as they can set up properly to jump.

Unfortunately Flynn/BW are not the answer, they are stop gap players.
Now we have missed Cameron the options are limited, R Marshall would be ideal, just got to remove him from STK and turn his head from GEE.
Moyle would be ideal as the next younger version, but he isn't leaving GC after signing a long term deal.
Reidy would be next best and is OOC, low cost option with upside.
WC seem increasingly happy with A Reid as a ruck/fwd option to develop and be the next ruck in 3-4 years time imo.

Do we need/want Warner? I’d be hoping Hewett is showing signs of being that player in 2 years.

We need someone that knows how to find the ball even when his team is playing poorly. Warner has shown an ability to go missing when the heat is on. Would still take him but not at the cost he would command

Hard to build Jobe Shanahn for 2030 while a ruck is in his face marking the ball though...

Development of players is getting killed by playing with 17 players on the field
Most premiership sides over the past ten years have had average rucks. Yes, we need a better ruck that Flynn/Williams but with Cameron off the table, the options to replace them just aren't there. We need to look further ahead in that position now.

Moyle is not an option. Noone else is taking that position from Flynn/Williams in 2026. We need to look beyond 2026 with the ruck position now.
Agree to an extent here Barry. Absolutely no point chasing a middling ruckman and losing draft capital for little tangible difference.

DC is an A grade ruck and would have moved the needle for our midfield. Moyle isn’t leaving. Barnett has failed. Best to find a cheap developing ruck to essentially take the list spot currently being held by Barnett.

McInerny is an UFA next year as is Witts which may change Moyle’s mind if he stays, Reeves is a RFA next year, Lachlan Smith and Alex Dodson are OOC.

It is getting a little worrying we are going down last years path again.

At the time Baker, Owies and Graham all solid pick ups and in our 5 win team should’ve been plug and play to maybe snag another 2 or 3 wins to get to 7 or 8. Does that bring in Chad Warner ect.
While 2 out of the 3 can run through the midfield they ain’t pure mids. Moved out of the high end mids part of the draft as well.

I like Starcevich and McVee pick ups (not so much Duncan) but they ain’t going to help to fix our main area of need and most likely neither are picks 1 and likely pick 2 for two to three years. Contested ball winners and a link mid.

Now we have had some links to mids like Erasmus, Philips and even Jack Steele those rumours seemed to have dropped off a little. All we get now is Eagles are looking at mids.

Eagles clearly have minimal leaks at the moment which is great but I hope they don’t go down this path again of no pure mids and ruck.
Why?
I think WC are being very active in the trade space.
Having a crack at everyone we know of and lots we don't would be my guess.
We cant land all our top targets as we are where we are in our list build.
We will get a few upgrades which will be a decent offseason.
The likes of Ah Chee, McVee, Erasmus, Davies, Reidy would be a decent haul if we can get 4 of them.
We need 2 mids that can help with our kids that are being smashed because they are young and developing, whether that is Davies, Steele, Erasmus I would take 2 of them.
McVee is an outside wing, transition player with speed and good skills if that's where WC want him to play there.
