Hird is the biggest Eagles hater. Genuinely think he is going to cry every time he talks about them.

Anyway swim your way through Hirds tears and Cal thinks we will go ti the draft with 1 and 2 but clubs will likely come for CDT or Duursma.

If these guys couldn't foosball good, they wouldn't have a career post footy.

Posters here are more knowledgeable than these guys. We all know about the soft cap, we all know the punitive taxes applicable if we go over it. It's not difficult to understand for everybody except these guys.

You'd hope for his sake that he doesn't piss away his 4th opportunity to make something of his career.
Yeah he might prove us all wrong but hard to see how he breaks into that line up. Bont, Richards, Kennedy, Libba, Treloar, Garcia, Sanders, Hynes, Freijah.

I do not believe we will draft CDT too undersized and will take 3 seasons to get a game
His forward work is not good enough to play as a permanent forward.
Not sure if you have seen our list recently but CDT would be playing within 3 weeks, let alone 3 years.

We took a 19 year old with 4 career SANFL games in the second round of the reject draft and within three months he was playing in the seniors.

hes a genuine gun that makes our midfield a LOT better too I really hope he comes to his senses and chooses almost guaranteed AFL games over the Footscray VFL

Some of these mega trades look like my attempts at first 4 in the Melb cup
Maybe its just me but I usually skim through those posts. I appreciate the hard work people put into them but its so meaningless atm. Far too many variables guessing what 3 or 4 clubs will do. We cant even agree what WC might do with picks 1 and 2.

I’ll never understand the obsession with bailing out the West Coast Eagles. Seriously. The AFL bending over backwards to give the richest club in the land a free ride is beyond a joke.

Let’s be honest: this is a club with more resources than anyone. They’ve got the fan base, the sponsors, the money. They could be spending right up to the soft cap and beyond in football infrastructure, development, coaching staff — but instead, they pick and choose, cry poor, and wait for the AFL to hand them a draft package. Pathetic.

And the narrative that “oh, poor West Coast, they’ve fallen on hard times”? Spare me. This mob won a premiership in 2018. That’s six years ago. Not a generation. Not a drought. They’re not some struggling suburban club fighting to keep the lights on — they’re swimming in cash. They put themselves in this hole.

If you give West Coast priority picks, what message does that send? That you can mismanage your list, take your eye off development, bottom out for a few seasons and the league will just swoop in with a safety net? That’s not equalisation, that’s rewarding failure.

I’ve lived through what happens when the AFL decides to “make an example” of a club. I know how harsh they can be. But when it’s West Coast, suddenly it’s sympathy and handouts. I’m telling you right now — it’s wrong. They don’t need help, they need accountability.

West Coast don’t deserve priority picks. They deserve to dig themselves out the hard way. Anything else is a farce.

I agree. They're fun to read but you can't take them seriously

also to add west coast went all in for another premiership after 2018 like 95% of flag winning clubs do, a global pandemic right as we traded our future and went all in for 2020 dosent help either,

then 2021 the natural progression of afl happens and we run out of steam at the end of the season and miss finals before the 2022-2025 run everyone is well aware about.

sure west coast made some bad list decisions but that being excuse to not give us a priority pick is piss poor, you think we walked into drafts and trade period actively trying to make ourselves worse? teams have gotten priority picks for BAD list decisions since forever so I dont get that claim.

another thing that pisses me off is this ''richest club'' gimmick, is this the EPL? can we just go out and buy Nick Daicos and Will Ashcroft for $10 million?

Pretty much that what the AFL is.

If you have a few years of really bad results then you get an assistance package.

If you float along winning 7 or 8 games fir half a decade you're not helped because you're semi competitive

Is JamesTurd satire or literally just James Hird?

I'd like to know where the Hird types think we should spend more of our soft cap. Sure we could throw some big money at assistant coaches but how many voices do you need. Football department is pretty stacked already I am sure after years of reviews.
Could hire some more drinks runners for game day so our players are more hydrated 🤣 . Might get us into the finals. Or maybe there is a limit on those as well haha. Probably is.

A private jet would be handy though. But again, bet we cant do that.

Interestingly enough, Pyke said in the interview the other day that we already spend over the soft cap limit.

Duursma and Sharp for pick 1 and 2 will make a few on here happy

Did anyone catch the end where Jasper rated the dockers pick 11 as fair for McVee. But finally conceded early 2nd pick because he’s out of contract.
Wtf I’m glad he didn’t pick us, imagine what Clarke would have given up.

Side note. If there is a stand off with Freo we could pinch him in the PSD

Created a burner because this little pussy was scared of being banned and posted in the wrong thread.

Pure poetry.

Hird wants us to do what he did.spend extra in football department...if you know what I mean.

doesn't matter that you need players with talent. you "give" them talent beyond their abilities through football department spending. wink wink.

I don't think he rated McVee at 11, just said that's what Demons would be chasing and ultimately, probably end up with a pick in the 20s. I think he was factoring how far picks are getting pushed out.
