No doubt, I think Collingwood’s asking price will be higher than many hope. If we did get Cameron Bailey Williams would probably also need to find a new home.
He’s essential to how they play and given collingwoods aging list you would have to have a damned good offer for them to accept a trade I’d be thinking late first just for them to budge

Have heard from people from Albany that Darcy Cameron is looking to finish his career back home in WA. Turns 30 this year, 204cm and is moving and marking better than ever.

Contracted til 2026 but we should have a crack this year I reckon. Probably cost a pick in the 20 to 30s range but definitely worth it IMO.
It'll be hard to get him while he's contracted.

30 isn't an ideal age but there's an argument he was a late starter and only started getting regular AFL games when he was 25. Could probably play until 35...

If he was a FA I'd be keen but unless we get priority picks to trade we need all our good picks

Pies might do it as well as they need a heap of points for father sons etc and have no first.
Plus might be a two time premiership player. I think the other issue is they will be tight with their cap and he’s been playing for unders apparently, around $500k. So they might be happy enough to let him go

Word is Pies keen on Jack Williams Id suggest as a Cox replacement.

So a 2nd plus Jack is about right. Baily also a chance if we trade in Cameron.

If we can turn Jack and Baily Williams into Cameron thats not a bad outcome IMO.

Cameron, Flynn and Barnett our 1st rucks.

Archer our forward / ruck.

Shanahan comes in for Oscar.

Well read that nothing article on the AFL site. What should the Eagles do.

All pretty obvious.

Let Oscar go for FA compo

Get Harley to committ either way. So sign him or trade him this year.

Get more 1st round picks before Tassie.

Duh. Pretty bloody obvious.

The club needs to make a line in the sand with players.

Who is commiting to the club? Who is unsure?

If you dont want to be here move them on.

If they arent happy move them on.

Get players here who want to be here and commit. Lets get that right and other things will start improving

Where’s the Jack Williams mail coming from? They had very lukewarm interest in Bailey last year. I suspect Essendon may also be interested in him with Draper and Bryan out long term.

Collingwood will be looking to refresh their list, perhaps both Williams for Cameron might be palatable. I’d like to hang on to as many picks as possible to bundle up for GCS top pick. If Williams x2 left it would give Livingstone an extra year too.

Forgot about Livingston.

So yes, good point.

I like the cut of his jib Livingston. Big boy 200cm plus and aggressive.

I still think it’s a long shot but I’d love him to make it. If Oscar and J Williams do leave at the end of the year it would leave us a bit light on KPDs with Waterman, Archer, Shanahan and Livingstone.

Interestingly there’s some talk we’re one of a few interstate clubs keeping an eye on JUH. I find it very hard to believe we’d look at bringing him in for many reasons but maybe something to keep an eye on. He’d cost nothing at this point.

This would be a terrible deal for us, losing Jack for a 30yr old no thanks

I think that is underselling Jack Williams a lot. He is only 21 and looks good. No way would the Eagles do that deal for an aging ruckman.

If Collingwood wants Jack, who could be in their B22 for the next 10 years, then they'd have to stump up an offer acceptable to the Eagles.

It sounds like JUH needs to get out of Melbourne and bad company.

Obvious mob is Brisbane but if they are into Oscar they will happier with his character coming into a premiership list. JUH maybe seen as a risk to team harmony?

Swans the next obvious.

He would need to show beyond doubt he is willing to be a professional AFL footballer.

Geelong are the obvious if he stayed in Vic. But may not work for JUH getting clear air.

A complicated call JUH.

Think about who is putting pressure on Jack and Bailey Williams?

And our draft targets.

Cody Curtin for example.

We add Curtin 200cm, have Shanahan 196 , Livingston 200 and Barnett 203. (might be out a cm here or there).

Flynn and Bailey as rucks.

Forward talls

F J Williams Waterman small
HF medium A Reid small

Can see Curtin or Shanahan takng that 3rd developing tall spot forward. Livingston gets more time to develop. Barnett will start demanding to get games as the 2nd ruck / fwd.

Cameron comes in for 3 or 4 years and can play 3rd tall as well.

Who out of all the younger prospects should get the 3rd tall fwd oportunities? Depending on our rucks?

If Sydney bids on Oscar, we could match the bid and force a trade.

Would the Eagles trade Oscar to Sydney as a straight swap for Warner?

Or would both clubs see that deal as a loss?
Oscar goes to Sydney as a free agent and we get pick 2

Pick 2 goes to Sydney for Warner and first round pick

Sydney get Oscar and pick 2, we get Warner and pick 15ish

That is absolutely horrific. God I hope you're not part of the list management team.

Lions and Power are the other two interested, which makes sense from a positional need. Dogs will not deal with the Cats after the Bailey Smith saga. And because they ares *****.

Lot of water to go under the bridge.

In the event that we lose Oscar, why would we so willingly lose a contracted JW for cents on the dollar?

while we are all excited about Reid/Shanahan, JW has shown that he’s still ahead of both, and even in the event of Shanahan/Reid surpassing him, Waterman won’t be around for ever, and we do still need depth.

Can very quickly go from an over supply of talls to being thin if we off load both Oscar and JW.

Trading J.Williams for 30yo Cameron makes no sense unless you think JW won't make it.

Even though ruck is an ongoing positional need it reeks of us paying overs to keep a player (agent) and their current club happy by bringing home WA talent as it suits them (see also L.Baker).
