Provisional 2025 Draft order

If Collingwood ask for a contracted Jack Williams in return for a contracted Darcy Cameron I would be very surprised if WCE didn’t agree to it provided Jack was open to it.

In the event that we lose Oscar, why would we so willingly lose a contracted JW for cents on the dollar?

while we are all excited about Reid/Shanahan, JW has shown that he’s still ahead of both, and even in the event of Shanahan/Reid surpassing him, Waterman won’t be around for ever, and we do still need depth.

Can very quickly go from an over supply of talls to being thin if we off load both Oscar and JW.

Draft C Curtin

Shanahan

Barnett

Livingstone.

Curtin Snr traded in a year or two.

Cameron and Flynn.

We wouldn't be short of options. That's why some of them likely move.

That is absolutely horrific. God I hope you're not part of the list management team.

We may have found Matt Clarke's BigFooty account

Word is Pies keen on Jack Williams Id suggest as a Cox replacement.

So a 2nd plus Jack is about right. Baily also a chance if we trade in Cameron.

If we can turn Jack and Baily Williams into Cameron thats not a bad outcome IMO.

Cameron, Flynn and Barnett our 1st rucks.

Archer our forward / ruck.

Shanahan comes in for Oscar.

They can have Baz but J.Williams is staying.

Maybe draft a mid instead of C Curtin? Or make him a defender? Don’t see how they’re related. Bit of a stretch including Barnett and Livingstone

We need:
A Key Defender - not a make-shift defender, not a "maybe we take a fwd and turn them defender", not a "grew 30cm and is no longer a mid but lets stick them back" defender.

We also need a 1st Ruck. - Flynn is serviceable when fit, but he's rarely fit, and BW although giving good effort, frankly sucks as a ruck. I wouldn't do the Cameron trade purely because we'd only get maybe 2-3 years out of him. We need someone solid with room to improve and will grow with the team so in 3 years time is hitting their peak.

We also need Mids, at least another 2 this year at a minimum.

Be it Zach Reid, Busslinger or another - If there is a possibility of North assistance package 1.0, an extra R2/R3 would be perfect to sign up these guys. I am still hoping for something significant with bated breathe.

This might be silly, can we not get some veterans like Mitch Duncan, Stephen Coniglio, Tom Mitchell throw a year, or two offer (player/coach) role through the NGA and have them play in the Beagles?
Tom Mitchel won't play, at his AFL level again. Foots ****ed.

Stop over reactiong.

Go and list the talls who are fighting for that spot.

.Is Jack Williams the standout?

I would say no. Not long term.

"we should trade our 22 year old contracted KPF who can also ruck AND a 2nd round pick for a 30 year old ruckman."

"NO"

"Stop over-reacting"

Calling out what a terrible trade it would be to have JW running around in a Collingwood jumper for a decade for a couple of years of Cameron isn't over reacting.

It’s fkin hilarious, especially after his game last night🤣 Once Oscar leaves his role to the team will be absolutely pivotal. Best second ruck by a mile and just manages to kicks goals.
But people are open to trading him for a 2 year sugar hit solution to our ruck issues. What about when those 2 years are up and we’re back to square 1?
Jeeeesus.

Trade JW for a 30 year old ruckman and we will have a decade of Pies supporters reminding us how much they fleeced us in that trade.

Keep in mind that Shanahan is out of contract next year and will have clubs getting in his ear already.

We have an over-supply of talls, that doesn't mean you trade 22 year old KPF for next to nothing.

Theoretically everybody is tradeable if the price is right. But no way we should be giving up draft picks and/or quality players for 30 years olds given where we are in the cycle. No matter how good the 30 year old is. We only take players over 26 if we can get them for practically nothing or if we had picks given to us by the AFL that we can't use and have to trade.

J Williams is currently miles in front of both Barnett and Livingstone. Bailey should be traded out before Jack.

He want’s to be here, has shown gradual improvement over time, just kicked 3 goals last night.

Would be mad to get rid of him unless it was for overs.

If Collingwood were sniffing around Jack Williams it was probably because he wasn't getting a game or considered best 22 at the time and they thought they could get him for nothing. Now Oscar is halfway out the door and Williams is likely to get a regular game it will be harder to convince him to go and the price will be higher for Collingwood. I think that will snuff out their interest. They were bargain hunting and were not looking to give up anything to get him.

While I 100% agree with the KDEF player need, we have 2 options.
Trade in a ready made cheap option and develop 1 of our talls to be KDEF/A Reid.
Cheap option would actually be Z Reid from ESS who looks to have got over his injuries after going to Qatar in the off season like Gov and Yeo did and is OOC 2025.
Brock looks a CHB type with his athletic ability and only needs to put on some size and develop, we then have a new CHB/FB combo with Z Reid and Brock and maybe cover with A Reid.

Or draft another KDEF option and wait another 3-4 years to develop them, which we probably need to do in the next couple of drafts. We have an NGA available 2026, D Shanahan if he keeps developing or draft another if not.
Neither Barnett or Bazzo looked to be long term options and H Edwards is ok but depth when he is surpassed.

Ruck problem is we trade for D Cameron 2025 or 2026 and get 3 solid years out of him and by then A Reid will be ready and we will have either JW and Livingstone as 20% rucks to go on with.
