Evan Smith 202cm SD ruckman missed the draft , not exactly going great at league level but has potential and very good skills .
Low chance of getting drafted but they said that about Humphries .

Clearances are the problem. Who cares if you lose the ruck contests, the midfield need craft and grunt to win the ball and clear it.

All the geniuses banging on about English as if he'd solve our clearance woes don't actually watch games i swear

He played a great game around the ground yesterday without doubt

However the Dogs also lost the hitouts by 20 but still won the clearances by 14. That's because they have a gun midfield not because they have a dominant tap ruckman

Package of Zach Reid’s game vs North Melbourne. Working into the season beautifully. Clear #1 target KPD.

We’ve got the cap space, he can play with his brother and we can use the PSD threat so we don’t overpay in a trade. 23yo 202cm plug and play KPD that can kick like that.

Maybe turn the sound off.

Find the ruck in the off season by offering some stupid money on someone. Until then, at the MSD find a midfielder

Dom brew. VFL B&F
27 hardened. Leader.
Every week
30 touches
8 tackles
10+clearances.

Give him a shot to provide what Yeo can't do at the moment.
Yep, whoever thought Shuey was a good choice for stoppage coach needs to be fired asap.

Bloke practically had the ball force fed to him by Nic Nat.

Spend the cash and give McQualter the best of the best in terms of assistant coaches.

A direct correlation between hit outs and clearance numbers, don’t try to tell me it’s not the ruckman!

Kuol Mun had a monster day out in the VFL day. Would take a lot of time to get to afl level. Not sure what his opposition was like.

20ds, 2.1g, 39HOs to 14.

Darcy Cameron seems to be the one and him coming over for money as the Pies can’t match anywhere near it. But we would have to trade for him.
Second round pick for Cameron?

OMG. Reason for sacking the entire recruitment and list management teams. Only joking but what a decision. Don’t they watch these guys play?
$700k can't be real for Owies... It can't be

Wow just wow

3 years... on a deal around 700k a year.......

That number was labeled “wildly inaccurate” by Owies’ manager, but by all means keep repeating it.

The 3 years is 90 percent of the issue though. Whether it’s 500 or 700 isn’t much of a needle mover to me .

Also the fact he was included as part of the incentive for us to give up pick 3, which was wholly unnecessary.

Yeah our 2nd round pick but gotta reply on Collingwood doing the ‘right thing’ and letting him go. Also they sound like they will require points for FS and NGA.

He is saying he wants to stay but the deal will have to be right. They are preparing for Ben King free agency apparently next year. Houston would’ve got nicely paid and they paid overs for Perryman. Hill just signed and Maynard sounds 50/50 due to getting offers of $1m at North. It might be a case of one of Maynard or Cameron if they want what they are worth.

Cameron apparently on only around $500k and would’ve never had a big deal so understandable he wants to get paid decent coin for possible his last contract.

Collingwood are in win now mode, if they let Cameron go cheaply what are they doing about the ruck?

Could always do a dodgy with Collingwood so we both manufacture a mutually agreeable deal.

Shelve the Ben king talks. Oscar to Collingwood as a RSA, we get pick 2. We send them a second rounder for Cameron and an IOU pick for next year.

I understand why they took Owies. They want some mature players in the right age bracket to help McQualter given how lopsided the age demographics in our squad are. But i think it was a bad call. We don't really need the type of forward that he is. We need someone who can put on defensive pressure to help lock the ball in and kick crumbing goals, not somebody who needs the ball kicked to him on the lead and has little defensive presence.

Agreed but majority of the time the AFL isn’t ruthless like that.

Even more so if he is a 2 time premiership player. The view would be let him get paid.

In no other sport would Houston be let go by Port last year for what they got.

Oscar would have to pick the Pies. We have zero say on that.

Apparently he has already ruled them out? Which seems weird if he keen to go to a contender if he leaves but hasn’t ruled out the Hawks so it’s not a don’t want to live in Melbourne thing.

Only thing could be the money and deal wasn’t as good as Brissy and Hawks

Why isnt Archer Reid in the discussion for ruck?

Great mobility, awesome contested mark and 203cm is the size needed, just needs to fill out a bit more which won't be far away at all.

We already have 4 Non-Ruckmen on the list - Jamieson, B.Williams, Livingstone and Barnett - nearly 10% of the squad who are not AFL ruckmen…or forwards…or backmen…

Archer Reid is at the very least, seemingly, a forward - albeit one that can’t kick.
With Oscar gone I suspect the hope is that Reid will play CHF with Jack Williams as the 3rd tall/back up ruck.

We need genuine ruckmen - not only one that is basically competent and able to not be regularly destroyed but backups that can slot in when required and actually compete.

JUST KICK IT!!!
I seriously have a bloke about 10 seats up from me who uses that one constantly.

Also have the 70yr old that listens to way to much of Sumich and Hardie that likes to fill his mate in on everything during the game, he sits directly behind me and I have to listen to all of it. Drives me insane.
