Just remember I was told the players to chase and how hard to and If I could get commitment then Clarke produced a contract offer.

Over the course of the season I got 8 commitments. That turned out being just 1 player landed. Graham and Baker I didn't have a role in.

I must admit though **** me outside of some tackling pressure Owies has been absolute horse shit. We got the wrong player that Carlton lost as Matt Kennedy instead of Jack Mcrae is looking like an almighty boost to the dogs.
Who were the 8 commitments WCE_phil?

Would we dare take Clayton Oliver for a F1?

I think the funniest thing about this board is you’re all quick to call something bullshit (rightly so sometimes) when it comes from someone that’s actually within the industry, yet you all fall for WCEPHIL apparently working for us.

Surely you don’t actually believe this nutjob?

I like believing it. It's an enjoyable sort of canon to work into my understanding of the footy club I support - that there's this type of character doing his 70s gangster movie wheeling and dealing, that it's influenced our list and that I read his posts on a footy forum.

If you visited Loch Ness it'd be more fun to let yourself half believe there could be a plesiosaur living in there.

Some people like reality. Some people like dealing with genuine people. Some people think a person who has to BS is deeply flawed. And some people think people who buy into obvious BS are also deeply flawed. Just saying.

If wanting to believe Whore Island is real then I'm happy to be considered deeply flawed. Balls deep in fact.

Macrae looks good until he plays against good mids. Go back and watch him get monstered at the clearance vs the dogs.
If Serong and Brayshaw are not good mids than what do you call our mids? Plus the dogs have just destroyed port and gws...does that mean Rozee, Butters, Callaghan, T Green etc are not good either?

Considering it at least. “Wants” might have been a bit of an exaggeration.

If Liam Ryan is exploring his options as reported and open to living in Melbourne that is a trade worth exploring with both having a year to run on their contracts. Something like Cameron and Ed Allan for Ryan, BWilliams and Chesser.

Just a lazy five-player trade?

If Ed Allan comes back to WA it’ll almost certainly be to play for Freo where his Dad played and coached

The other question, that I don’t know the answer to, is whether he’s actually good enough to consider pursuing. It was his athletic profile that saw him shoot up the draft board but he’s yet to have an impact at AFL level - just 5 games so far, admittedly in a side that would be hard to break into

Where would he play for us?

This is heavily in our favour. Ed Allan will be a good long term player.

He's good enough.

Looked elite in the last game last year for the Pies. I thought he looked good in their loss against the Giants too.

Not huge numbers in the VFL from memory but just another one that might get a look at midfield time and on the wing.

Freos hands will be full with the Kosi thing and having enough points over the next 2 years to match Whan and Robinson.

What’s Ed’s price?

Bwiliams and Chesser have no trade value.

They're not even steak knives.

If Collingwood let Cameron go they’d want a replacement ruck (at the very least) on the list. Allan and Chesser were both drafted largely due to their athletic upside but so far neither have shown much at AFL level. Would Allan actually be worth that much more than Chesser?

Who would do a straight swap of Ryan for Cameron if he’s exploring his options?

Allan has shown an ability to find it at VFL level atleast.

Allan has a couple of 30+ VFL games under his belt and almost 20 games of getting 20+. Chesser has gotten 20d just once.

Keen to see how the rest of the year plays out for Chesser but Allan would still have more value just from runs on the board than Chesser.
