I never quite got the obsession with moving senior listed players onto the rookie list. How many of them turn around and actually improve with the additional year on a rookie contract?

We're better off using these rookie spots on genuine rookies. It's a cheap 1 year contract, we should be cycling players through as much as possible and seeing what sticks.

Not a big signing, but I wouldn't mind see the club supplement our ruck/key defender stocks
Yeah not a FA but I think Blight (Richmond) will be an option and he’s OOC and WA lad. Misses plays for our AFLW team I believe. He’s also not playing week in and out at Richmond. Im not sure he’s an upgrade either on what we have.

The money will have to play with, we could blow anyone out of the water. Convincing them to come to a spooner is a different story atm.

I know the ship has probably sailed but I thought the one time Petch and Chess were put right in the heat of the contest they got amongst it pretty well

Petch especially.

Feel like they're the type that need to be involved or charge in on instinct rather than work out what to do out by yourself

Yeah I reckon when it comes down to it we'll get screwed for the Oscar compo thing and end up with pick 47 or something
To be honest oscar isn't worth pick 2 as much as we all want it and have seen other clubs get out of proportion compensation
He's not really even in our best 23 at this stage is he. He's a shell of a player
Still hope we get pick 2 for him 🤣

Cripps is playing reasonably well in general and played very well on the weekend, but I'd consider retirement if I were him, he has clearly lost a yard this year and while experience helps cover that, it won't forever.

He was worth band 1 compo at the start of the year. When did Hawks and Brissy present a contract offer?

They can pull out of that contract clearly as he can’t officially sign until the end of the year.

What sort of player is Oscar to them teams when they get better delivery in and it’s coming in more? Also mentally the contract no longer on his mind.

No chance in the world the Eagles accept
Band 2 for him (pick 19* which could well and truely be in the 30s on draft night) Neither Hawks or Lions would be willing to trade for him so they will make sure it triggers band 1 (if they still want him) Can’t see the Lions not going down this route as they have the mids and most are FS or academy so unlikely to leave. They need a key forward.

Scarcity.

Flag windows are scarce and limited.
KPF's are scarce. He and Jamarra are about the only ones available.

Band 1 compo, fellows!

This is the same logic north supporters gsave when the McKay compo pick was announced.

As it has turned out, Oscar is in the same ball park as far a free agency grifting.

FWIW a fairer system would be compo is determined by the contract the original club has on the table.

In that situation, if west coast want to low ball Oscar with a 3 year deal on 600, they can recieve a 3rd round pick.

Would also solve the issue of bottom clubs paying extra for depth players and B graders from top clubs generating first round compensation.

Yep
Another Jermain Jones.

Every now and then teases you with something really good but the majority of the time was poor.

IF WC chop you, you must be poor IMO.
Not another Jarmaine Jones, had far more skill.

Was a pick 6, not a rookie pick. I know draft positions are far from infallible but they indicate something.

If WC chop you, it means nothing, are you implying the club has made the right decisions over the last decade?
If so, how has this once strong club ended up in this ‘mother of all messes’ ? And with Callum Jamieson and Loch Rawlinson and Harry Barnett and many others on its playing roster?

Saying you must be no good because WC chopped you means absolutely f.a.
They’re like a blind man throwing darts at a dart board.

Those are some very germane points.
