The senior coach very much has a say in his player’s future. If he tells Matthew the genius Clarke that Oscar’s our long term KPD and wants him to stay instead of the pick then the approach changes. If he says I want pick 2 to get the two best mids Oscar’s an expendable KPF in my plans then again the discussion changes

Does anyone actually think McQualter or anyone else thinks "Oscar's our long term KPD"?

TK has 31 goals in 103 games. He kicked 48 in 48 at the Cats.

He was never a forward at the Cats the way Dangerfield is, or the way we send Harley Reid forward. In his best season he took 11 marks inside 50. He kicked goals because of the way Geelong played and the strength of their midfield. WC don't have a dynamic midfield nor do we have a lot of repeat stoppages inside 50.

TK in his two seasons with WC where we weren't terrible kicked 5 and 6 goals. In his B&F season he kicked 10. For whatever reason the concept of mids kicking goals has been foreign to WC for years.
fair point, just hoping really.

****** if I know what he’s thinking. Hypothetical situation and not the point of the post.

No, the point of your post was that the senior coach decides what the list manager does with a player’s contract. He doesn’t. He can have input, but he doesn’t make the final decision. And in this case I don’t think his input is as important as the input of the fitness staff.

No, the point of the original post was Oscar not talking about his future after this year.

In regard to the point you’re now making I didn’t say the senior coach decides what the list manager does, I said he has a say.

Hey guys, a poster mistakenly said "KPD" even though we all know he meant KPF. Lets antagonize over it for 10 pages.

No I didn’t I mean KPF, I did mean KPD. We have no AFL quality KPDs once Gov retires and WCE seem to be happy where our tall stocks are at so someone has to shift back. It might be Oscar.

Sheldrick is leaving at the end of the year. Take it to the bank.
To play where? Eagles no doubt have interest. Can’t see another midfield where he would be a 100% walk up start.

Thought his form early this year was pretty average. Fumbling a lot and disposal not great. Last 2 weeks I’ve liked what he’s done, it has been as sub so hard to judge.

Nice cheap option imo.

The 2 cheaper mid options id be looking at are Sheldrick and Sam Berry (contracted but probably first one out once Crouch is back) Clearance player and accumulator.

Which I responded to 👍

You responded saying there was nothing wrong with what Allen said.

So the point was that Allen only talked about this year, which is all he can do, and all he did, and it was fine.

Glad we got to the bottom of that.

I said I was happy with what he said. He could have talked about beyond this year, but he didn’t. Now we’re back at the original post.

And we’re back to my original question. What, realistically, could he have said about next year?

Mig. You’re a smart guy, I don’t need to spoon feed you. After being publicly shamed and an oval side hostage situation press conference, any comment about Oscar’s long term future would have sufficed, even the cliches.

An example of what Oscar could have said :

“…the rest of the year and hopefully beyond

An example of what McQualter could have said:

“…and can't wait for the rest of the year and hopefully after with him, he’s very much in our long term plans."

As I said several posts ago, he’s clearly torn (at best). Why would he say he’s hopeful of staying when he’s openly courting offers from other clubs?

An example of what McQualter could have said:

“…and can't wait for the rest of the year and hopefully after with him, he’s very much in our long term plans."

McQualter can’t say he’s in the club’s long term plans, that’s not his call. It’s the list manager’s. My other original point.

I think weve gone around in circles enough on this, we might have to agree to disagree.
