There is no market for a small
Defender who can’t defend, can’t dispose of the ball by foot with any accuracy over 15 metre sideways kicks and falls over in a contest.
Delist him, he's not going to get any better and will probably get worse which is highly probable.

What's the point of yeo playing 1 game in rd24

But no point in 2 MSD picks either I guess
Outisde of strategic reasons, I suppose these sort of decisions could possibly come down to earning potential. If we deny Yeo the opportunity to play he will miss out on match payments despite being fit to play.

Also not sure if it would come under AFL scrutiny for tampering/fairness reasons.

Nothing ground breaking

• No intentions to open up a second MSD spot by putting Yeo on the inactive list
• Linking us to Parfitt and Sellwood - nobody else mentioned
• McQualter has said we’ll take best available
• Everything else is filler

Parfitt has just turned 27 putting him in the same age bracket as Baker, Graham and Waterman and would give us an experienced mid to replace Sheed as a like for like. Would give us an extra mature body in and around the contest but the downside would be taking away opportunity from the likes of Hall and Gross

Sellwood is younger (22 later this year) and a long kicking half back who is a strong interceptor from my understanding (stand to be corrected). Not sure what is one on one defending is like nor what is pace/agility is like. Would put pressure on Cole but also be competing with Allan for game time

Of the two, I’d be leaning towards Sellwood as a longer term option but wouldn’t be unhappy with Parfitt as he’s in an age bracket we’re short in

Living the dream that we end up with a team made up entirely of half backs that could transition into other roles at some stage, with none of them actually being elite half backs.

Parfit would make sense i guess - lifts the floor (but not the ceiling), AFL capable, role-player in an positon where we lack senior depth. A fine but unexciting selection.

Sounds like we've been sniffing around Sellwood for a year or so now. Does anyone that watches WAFL have any insights into his potential/how he may translate to AFL level?

It will be very interesting what WC do with our MSD pick.
Sellwood looks an obvious target as best available at this point, at his age and profile he looks a strong bodied type and been playing with senior FRE players for a while so should be ready to play sooner rather than later.

Parfitt looks a short term option if we don't rate others, but doesn't bring in much regarding talent and list needs apart from that help around the mids.

Tom Evans looks a small/medium defender with very good skills but at 19 and only 180 he is probably a smaller version of Grego?

Hope C Dennis or G Stumpf continue to impress as they would be very acceptable KPD draftees if that where we end up going.
Only got 2 games to impress before WC make a call on whether they open up another MSD spot with Yeo, Jamieson, Gov if his concussion issues are as speculated?

Sounds like Sellwood will be picked up in the first round.
Would Parfitt be picked up in the first round? If so, they would only get one of their speculated targets if they had two picks.
If we go in with one pick then that's all we want.

But who really knows who the speculated target is? Could be anyone, we seem to pull them from anywhere and not go with media speculation.

I suppose the advantage of not putting Yeo on the LTI is that it keeps him motivated and interested.

this, If he looks like he is still 6-8 weeks away or Gov open up a 2nd MSD spot if there is a viable option that we are looking at as a KPD draftee.
C Dennis or G Stumpf.

Most would ask for 18 months, so we'd be stuck with someone who may not be up to it, or a list clogger for 6 months if they only nominate that.

It's the MSD, these are mostly blokes who couldn't even make a rookie list, ex-AFL players, or reserve players getting a chance.

Whilst there's been some really good players to come from the MSD, the likelihood of a second rounder being any good is very low.

Didn't we pick up our fill of average 27 year old's in last year trade perio, goodbye pick 3 I remember you well (H Langford )? Or is this Mini's strategy to remain anchored at the bottom.

It's supposed to be a God damn rebuild, please pick the 22 year old 🙏 😕

Over under on us calling Yeo’s season after the MSD? I’m saying 2 weeks tops.

That wording is not promising at all if it’s the official line. “Keep the faith that he might be back this year” is basically saying he’ll play some token games at best
What, like we did with Naitanui a couple of years ago? No wayyyyyyy

I think match payments are for those who are on a lower contract. I can't imagine McGovern is on match payments in addition to his salary. I think Schofield mentioned it once on his pod - I think when it was during COVID

The last point is important, we're not getting pick 1 and 2, it's pick 1 and 19... what are the odds the 19th kid overlooked for AFL already will make a tangible difference.

Yep, it's really weird that people are disappointed we're not adding another list clogger.

Anyone been following josh brownes progress since moving east
From memory he spent time with the beagles a few years ago?
Seems to have upped his game over there

Based on previous drafts it’s more like pick 1 and ~14, since not every side participates.

Players taken in the second round of previous mid season drafts include Jordan Boyd and Cooper Sharman (2021), James Blanck and Jye Menzie (2022), James Trezise (2023) and Ned Long (2024). All those guys are currently contributing to their teams, except Blanck who’s out with an ACL, so it’s not quite the desolate wasteland you might think it is.

the important part is there are 7 clubs with MSD spot, so if WC took 2 it would 1 and 8
