mama mia the amount of negativity on here

warning: posters will be remembered if he comes good
The best thing about being negative about picks in the MSD is that none of these guys were considered among the best 70-odd players not on an AFL list just a few months earlier, so if you say that such-and-such is not going to cut it at the AFL level you are extremely likely to be right!

The thing is there's not even that much negativity, just that noone had heard of him and were scrambling to find out info and mostly folks having a laugh

He's our 2nd pick in a mid season draft, if he becomes a half decent AFL player it's a win

Highlights look ok reads the flight of the ball well and has strong hands for 179 cm , left footer that kicks the ball cleanly ..
Has a big build already and was invited to AFL combine last year even though he was injured and unable to to do test ..
A long shot but same draft class as last years boys ..

Ladies, please...

Exactly what the MSD is designed for.

Addressing a need, which we've hopefully done with the mature player in McCarthy.. ✅

And then taken a young player with talent and upside at the second pick which we didn't even have a few days ago ✅

That second selection could've been way worse. At least we've gone and backed our scouts in rather than going the default easy option and adding some vanilla from the WAFL.

Wouldnt have minded Bevan or Dennis, but that's fine.

When you're the campaigner talking sense, we are all doomed.

Just disappointed we didn't go retro and draft a bloke with a ? draft profile pic like the good old days of pie man.

Not great news for Noah Long is my read of that selection
I don’t think that a mid-season draft choice into a club that’s terribly lacking in AFL-level talent pretty much across the board, is really indicative of anything. They just need guys who can hack it at the AFL level and if they think Newton will be able to do that in the future, then that’s the right guy to pick.

Zac Langdon has the dubious honor to be WCE worst ever player
I assume you have some conditionals on that statement. Given he played 25 games for us and over 50 at AFL level. And we've had a bunch over the history who never played a game or didn't make double figures etc. Has to be enough spuds in that list to fill a chip shop at least.

'worst player to have played over 20 games' or
'worst trade we've made' or...

Or Liam Ryan is being traded at the end of the year and they are preparing for it.

Oscar Allen, Liam Ryan and reid leaving at the end of the year possibly will net us huge draft capital.

It's likely that within the next 18 months that all of Rawlinson, Petch and Cripps are off the list so it's not a bad shout to stock up even with Walley coming through soon

As Rawlinson's sponsor I must object to this comment. You have spelled 6 months wrong. And I do mean ALL of them so help me god.
