Moyle from GC who is almost ready to take a number 1 ruck role in the next 18mths?

I am not familiar with Moyle, and I'm starting to see his name pop up. Anyone have a brief summary of his playing style and who he is similar to in recent times?

And what happened to Knobel, or Reidy (Freo)?

Can Darcy offer anything, considering we have plenty left in our Cap space and can grab a pick?

Personally I dont see BBW/Flynn be around for too long.

Ned Reeves would be a good pick up. 211cm, was a regular best 22 at the Hawks before Meek came in. Would probably be a lot cheaper than trying to pry Moyle out of Gold Coast.

same height as Draper from ESS, Sweet from PA, 206cm and 23 reasonably athletic.
GC have been using him out of FF in VFL this year also averaging 15d and 38 hit outs in VFL.

A Rd3 pick would be cheap, but couldn't see Freo letting him go for less than Hawthorn's Rd2?

Would depend on his injury and if we thought we could get him fit.

It's possible.

CDT and Duursma are the only locks for top 5. The rest depend on the Champs. Only one game so far and Sharp didn't turn it on. It might be a case of Sharp, Fred, and Greeves don't fire. Lindsay and Grilj go okay but are clearly outsiders. A few other guys fire, but no one is convinced they are worthy of top 5. Then a split is on the cards, but no club wants to give up f-all to draft a player that they don't even know if he's better.

Honestly this draft isn’t a very deep one and doesn’t seem to be high on talent from all reports.

If the Eagles genuinely have zero interest in CDT then I wouldn’t bother letting Allen go.

I’d re-sign him and scoop up Starcevich for free as well and then upgrade Hawks picks into another top ten pick either from GC (port pick) or Swans as both have academy boys touted to go top ten.

We still get two mids in the first round, keep our captain and add a very good kick in the backline for nothing.

By the time you round it out With Walley Banfield and Evan’s and that’s a pretty good draft haul.

If we can pick up Phillips or Sheldrick for peanuts too even better.

That's literally what I said, that he'd take a few years to come on. Are we really picking a player to improve the team next year, or contend for flags 5 years from now? Because at this stage, CDT looks capable of that and he's likely to fall straight into our lap. You don't turn your nose at that to pick up the 5th best mid in the draft with pick 1/2, simply because you want immediate impact.

We're not contending for the flag next year, so we take the best players.

I mean, people wanted Rich over Naitanui and look how that turned out...

We won’t be but I think waiting 5/6 years for him to be class is to long by that time our core will be 25+ from now we need to be aiming to be competitive sooner

We're not going to be properly contending for 5 years at the earliest, which is when our core will be in their prime. It's actually perfect timing.

Taking lesser players for a sugar-hit next year or 2, will just set us back.

We already have 2x mids with the potential to be A-graders(Reid & Hewett), so if Oscar leaves and we get pick 2, we absolutely must take CDT.

Hell, if he's the standout best player, we basically have to take him anyway. You don't ignore the best player with pick 1 to 'fill needs'.

Ruck is the position we dont have promising young talls in(unless we make Archer into one), so makes sense we take a ruckman

It's not like we're overloaded in talent in the ruck area so even if he takes a few years to come on so be it. Taking CDT doesn't preclude us from picking up a more mature ruck to play in the meantime and there's no guarantee whatever midfielder people want us to draft instead will become a decent player anyway.
As long as we've got two high picks and CDT looks like being the best talent then take him imo
