Only need 1 of Erasmus, Sheldrick & Phillips. But sure chase them all until we're locked onto 1.

Having 3 or even 2 of them will clog the list & block younger higher ceiling players from development.

Based on nothing at all, seems to me Sheldrick probably is most likely to be an effective inside mid long term, followed by Raz then Phillips.
Sheldrick seems nailed on in that Swans best 22 now. I cant see him coming.

I think both Erasmus and Phillips would be good gets for us but id only target 1 due to concerns over pace. Id take Erasmus as the better get.

One thing to think about is we will need to delist 7 players this off season and so who are those 7? . For now I think it would be

  • McGovern (retired :( )
  • Allen (Brisbane)
  • Sheed
  • Barnett (pay him out)
  • Jamieson
  • Petrucelle
  • Bazzo (re rookie)
  • Rawlinson

Hunt Cripps and Chesser can get 1 year deals

Can we please have a look at Bo Allen in the midfield before draft time? In the WAFL at least?

There’s obviously a big need for combative inside ball winners but to recruit effectively we need to know what we have in he and Hall.

We don’t want to create a glut of inside mids with limited versatility. We tried that before with the era of Masten, Ebert, Stevens, Swift, Scooter where they each struggled to maximise their talent.

He rotated through the midfield in his first 2 WAFL games and played his best games to date.

22D, 7 tackles in round 1
23D, 2 tackles in round 2

When he came back after this and played in round 3 and 7 he was annoyingly back in defense and had 12D and 15D.

He looks much better in congestion and at stoppages with his explosiveness IMO. His decision making and skills by both hand and foot have no place in the backline.

I think Hewett has more upside than Harley personally.

Looks hungry and has energy and nous.

Just hasn't clicked

He’s very much a competitive beast.

The beauty of being so close to the action at Hands Oval on the weekend was that you can hear the players when the action is close to the boundary.

Elijah tried to swoop in on a loose ground ball in his typical explosive manner but just missed it and then let out the biggest F bomb you’re likely to hear. Got a bit of a laugh from the crowd out on the flank where we were positioned.

Hewett has only just started on his upward trajectory imo.
He has the skills and competitive nature to be a leading mid for years to come and will make a very strong combo with Harley.
This is why I rate Sharp, you could see from the game against Vic metro that he wasn't going to get beaten, he rose to the challenge.
I don't know where he rates against past players, but he just looks like a Petracca/Tom Green type to me in his ability to extract the ball and use it well, that competitive edge that's needed in the midfield.
Get Sharp and Rodriguez from this draft and we have rounded out our midfield.

is that why mediocre KPPs are getting paid the same as the annual GDP of a small african nation
Yes
Would not be mad with a Sharp and Rodriguez combo come draft time.
that's my ideal draft so expecting it to not happen coz none of my last 3 ideal drafts have happened other than JTR

If Fremantle want Kozzie badly enough they may be willing to do a salary dump with Sean Darcy. Get him for about 60% of his salary and Freo pay the rest for balance of his contract, providing he is fit. Include Erasmus in a package deal.
Sorry to intrude. Apparently Darcy is only on 700k a year, so I'm not sure that we mind that much paying out most (if not all) of his contract. It's actually about average (or slightly over) for a AFL ruck. If you could get his body right he still goes well (has won our best and fairest).
I know trades between Dockers and Eagles don't happen often but Erasmus will be a good get. He's been a slow build but I reckon he's a good footballer that just has not had the opportunites.

How many years left on his 7 year contract ? Is it 5 ?

Contracted to the end of 2030 when he would turning 32. (Will be 27 in two days)

I wonder if we could get a first round compensation pick for him as well as Oscar.

Ryan is contracted for next year so isn’t a FA meaning we can only get what another club is willing to trade for him. Best case scenario in a trade sense would be Gold Coast because they don’t value draft picks the same way other clubs due courtesy of their academy kids coming through

That said, I’d rather we keep Ryan. He’s playing some really good football for us this year and looks to have matured as a leader which wasn’t previously a strong point of his

With a number of NGA kids coming through the system this year and next he could develop into a significant mentor for them

The more I think about it, a combination of Lindsay and Sharp would be what I’d probably want. A contested mid, as well as a player with some serious foot skills.

Recruit a quality ruck, or let Archer and Jack Williams figure it out.

My preference would be to keep Ryan as well, feel like he’s very beloved amongst everyone and even Harley said that Ryan is his favourite person to play with.

That said if Gold Coast are dumb enough to give us our Dan Rioli opportunity with him, you probably pack his bags, lol.

Definitely wouldn’t be shipping him out unless we get significant overs.

The Bus is terrified of flying.

However if he wishes to pursue an AFL career long term and I think he has the ability he has to get over it one way or another. A club won't allow him to sit out a minimum 6 games a year.

He is good, but not that good.

Wonder what the AFL's drug policy is on taking Valium? Might be the only way for him to get through a flight

I don’t think he’s asked to sit out games.

He’s just not keen to join a club where he’d be flying every second week as opposed to once every five or six weeks.

Brent Stanton was in a similar position, he didn’t sit out interstate games but he wasn’t interested in being traded to an interstate team where he’d have to get on a plane more regularly.
