“He likes to lead up hard at the footy, he’s technically good at a set shot — he hasn’t shown it in the practice matches but he is,” McDougal said.

Dom Sheed Pocket confirmed.

Did the article also mention why Jobe Shanahan is a natural defender by any chance?

Just waiting for the part about him competing in the air forward of centre.

You didn’t look hard enough, it’s there:

“I just think Reid’s aerial presence and ability to read the ball in the air, he sees the ball well and is starting to play with a genuine presence,” he said.
“He now looks a natural forward who reads the play. In a team starved of opportunities up forward he still can impact games which is the impressive and exciting part of the future.”

All quiet on the Oscar Allen front. Doesn't sound like there are any negotiations going on and neither party appears to be agitating to restart negotiations. Does that mean both parties have agreed to amicably part ways at the end of the year but say the opposite to the media ala Barrass at this time last year?

I know some of these guys like Xaviour Ellis spew crap sometimes to get eyeballs and clicks and not everything they say turns out to be true. But sometimes it does and do think they hear things. And Ellis has been talking for a while like Allen is already gone and it is a done deal.

Did lol.

Not sure if this is a bit of a troll with the timing of this one from the west.

The quotes from McDougal are from before he debuted. I’d never say his conversion was a strength but he was 13.8 in WAFL, which is far better than what he’s putting out now, clearly.

Seems mental, more than anything. He hits kicks when he's passing to teammates just fine.

Im not suggesting we are the only ones who suffer injuries, but you cant seriously argue that its easier to perform as a young player in a midfield of Harley(20), Hewett(21) and Hough(22) than it is when you have a couple of contested mids in their prime like Taranto and Hopper playing every week as the #1 and 2 guys in the middle.

If we had Taaranto + Hopper it would allow Hewett and Harley to play more freely, and rate better, Gross could more easily play low TOG in the middle as we would have 2 guys who can both do 80% CBAs each, Ginbey wouldnt have to play as defensively as the ball wouldnt be coming in as easily, our young KPFs would have more ball coming in as the midfield would be stronger, etc

Its not just Yeo, its that they have 3 senior players playing good footy in the middle, we have 0
This is precisely why I think we need to go after an experienced gun thats got 2 or 3 years left of high level footy left in them. Go after a Bont, or a Cripps etc.. and bring in someone that will have an immediate effect on the balance of the side, and someone who the young lads can learn from. We did it with Sam Mitchell ( out mids got much better ) Brisbane did it with Luke Hodge ( their backline got much better) .... we have talent , we have youth, we lack senior players and on field leadership. We need to move on from Yeo and McGovern being those guys.

Not too far wrong. Issue with Essendon is they didnt have a draft strategy beyond that. If we have both pick 1 and pick 2 it literally changes everything with how we would go through the draft

To be honest if we had pick 1 and only pick 1 id probably take Rodriguez myself and not Sharp but if we go with 1 and 2 then im wanting it to be Sharp and Rodriguez. We can afford to take the 200 gamer knowing we can take the potential superstar next
Pick 1 on Rodriguez? I wouldn't be even slightly surprised if he will still be on the board with our pick 13.

Despite what the clowns at Rookie Me Central think, I think right now he doesn't last past 8. If he has another couple of similar games, he will plant himself firmly in the top 5.

I've never seen phantom drafts so far off reality.

Rookie Me Central on Sharp:

"He's going to go bald by 22, eww, can't have him top 10."
"He gives me the ick."

In reality, he's in every club's top 3.

Pickett has apparently signed to 2034 on a deal worth $12.5m

Seems reckless by Melbourne who are already stuck with a long term deal for Oliver. Lot of money for a small forward albeit a very talented one who can impact through midfield in bursts
