People can call it bed wetting or what ever they want but the this list team has shown they can do some stupid things, pick 3, trading out of a super draft instead of a thin draft and even the Hutchinson and Kelly’s extra year extensions.

People are just waiting for the next thing and that’s probably fair enough in current form.

True, but there's no point crying about something before its even happened.

The Baker trade looks a hell of a lot better after the fact knowing that bloke is going to win our B&F and has put in a decent shift all season with Graham 🥇 Even more so with Allen's downfall, Yeo dead, career over for McGovern and Sheed whilst Watermans season done.

Mowies has been rubbish and Allan over Murphy Reid looks dumber each and every week unfortunately.

The Kelly extension is absolutely absurd and I'd be happy if someone lost their job over it. Hutchinson also needs an explanation. Agree there. I don't have confidence in our list management either, but one draft Tweet isn't worth the fuss.

I doubt the pick split with GC has any real substance at this stage, however it would be foolish on several levels.

-Trading a top end pick for GC mid-late sloppy picks is a marginal call at best (particularly in this draft)
  • it would likely indicate not bidding on any of the NGA, all of which have merit going in the first few picks.
  • It gives the Nepo baby even more free charity by getting ahead of any potential bids.

The sad thing is a recent history suggests we are dumb enough to do this

We've changed from wet sheets to shitty sheets?

Phwoar.

Considering the only time in recent history we haven't split an early pick was because it was Harley Reid, means there's every likelihood we split, almost rusted on if we have two early picks.

I don't know. There's people here prepared to take him at 2. What I do know, it it starts getting real slim, real quick.

Lack of consensus on the top 6 picks shows you the drop off point is really at pick 1. Those critical of trading any potential Allen compo haven't done a great job of explaining who'd they take at 2 and why that player won't be available at say pick 8 or 12.

The assessment of this board that we should take Sharp probably highlights this. His kicking is average but he's a competitive beast and physical (more so than Greeves) & with no access to Uwland and Annables he's an obvious choice.

We still need depth. As the Petrucelles and Hunts fall off our list, the Kellys and Hutchinsons become that depth as younger, better players are added to the list. Keeping them on raises our floor, not improves our best 23.

Barring some disastrous Ashton Moir drop off in form he’ll 100% go top 10 excl. bids and I reckon top 5.

If we took Fred with the best of those picks then I worry who we’d take with the other ones, which will be in the 20s.
Hard to see him dropping off in form.

As you know Moir wasn’t a drop off in form either he was simply never that good. Got talked up in some early season rankings as top 10 material and some people in here spend the best part of 5 months talking about him like he was some unicorn.

Different crew did that deal.

Talking the last year. You can bury your head if you wish but besides putting the draft pretty much on auto pick, this list team hasn’t done much that would give anyone any confidence with trades and contracts imo.

So a single trade period didnt go as you wanted?

And its......

Think that’s a bit harsh on Moir, he had a very good underage year and I’d be surprised if any club didn’t have him in their top 10 at the start of 2023. Had some bad injuries (hip in particular) that curtailed his top age year and he slipped to the back of the 1R.

He’s kicked 16 goals in 11 VFL games this year including 4 last week, certainly not the star he looked like being as an under ager but that’s not a bad return for the role he plays.

Yep true, it's more so the duration of both though.

Kellys form/interest has dropped off so badly in 12 months, giving him 2 years rather than 1 year is just silly. Any young draftee (gross/Grego) would be capable of replicating his output this year, and they'd at least have growth for improvement.

Hutchinson likely has improvement in him (unlike Kelly) but still, the length of that contract is just not needed. In 2 years time if he's still the same player he is now... There's going to be a lot of unhappy people annoyed with the fact he's still got another 2 years left on the list. Why?

Nah I didn’t rate him. Thought his underage year was hyped too. Claims he could kick left and right foot 50m ect were inaccurate.
He will be an average afl player at best.

I know you didn’t. Average AFL player is about right and is probably roughly what you’d expect from a pick 29.

Cumming is a far better prospect, far more strings to his bow which is what I loved about him at the start of the year. Would love to pair him and Sharp.

Who says I’m out? Still watch every game and show as much internet as ever ect. I just understand when reg flags start appearing it might not be safe to bank on the current list management team will make great decisions. Who knows TK might turn his form around like Sidebottom from a couple of years ago and Hutch might be the next Heeney and they will look like a genius. All of those could’ve happened without the extra year/s.

It’s also not a single trade period. It’s now a trade period and worrying contract extensions.

That’s a decent rap sheet in 12 months?

No tears here and list management can’t be judge after 12’omths (Bo might be Fyfe, TK come good, Hutch might be Heeney) All that could happen but could’ve played out different. It’s fair to see why fans have lost confidence in what this list team might do next and it’s also fair to say it might be something not great.

We just need more semi skilled HBF.
The game is won with class mids and KP players (prioritising forwards)
