We still need depth. As the Petrucelles and Hunts fall off our list, the Kellys and Hutchinsons become that depth as younger, better players are added to the list. Keeping them on raises our floor, not improves our best 23.
It’s alright to say someone like Kelly is depth . The problem is that depth player is as useless as your know what’s on a bull so he isn’t worthwhile depth he is a clogger

not 100% sure but he was part of the state squad but didn't play, looks like a big bodied mid at 187cm already.
that's why I was asking
I assume he is the son of either Mark Gale (ex-Dockers), or Stuart Gale (brother). Grandfather would be Terry Gale the golfer. Very good sporting family.

I'm sure this has come up a heap before but I've forgotten the answer, if we rated Ulwand or Annabel at pick 1 and talk them around to the life out West, they are able to enter the open pool so their academy clubs aren't able to bid on them yeah? Like if we had pick 1 and 2 on 2023 we could have taken Harley and convinced Jed Walter to come be an Eagle or no?

Yes that’s correct.

People can call it bed wetting or what ever they want but the this list team has shown they can do some stupid things, pick 3, trading out of a super draft instead of a thin draft and even the Hutchinson and Kelly’s extra year extensions.

People are just waiting for the next thing and that’s probably fair enough in current form.
Which draft trade were you unhappy with exactly and how would you have done it better?

I am happy that I am on holiday and not seeing what the fuss is about with all these melts….

We’re what still three, four months away from trade/draft period?

All I am hoping for is we take the piss with bidding on NGA at pick 1, only if the kids are seriously worth it. I also want the club to grow a set of balls and threaten PSD in trade where it makes sense. We don’t need to be dicks about it but we need to look after ourselves and not the comp.

Last of all, I assume we will finish the season with one win, maybe two so the love of god can we make some noise for a priority pick!!!

:hamburger:

Think Chesser could be handy off a back flank too.
No thank you we already have a few failed mids lining up there. Honestly needs to be playing for survival these days. Today he was putrid and he actually did the impossible and managed to play a worse game than Barnett and Rawlinson. We have enough decent youth now (and a few more coming theough) that we don’t give extra chances for high draft picks.

Freo.

Why even ask this?
.. because it's the Purples.

Duh.

Yep
Chesser has had pretty much one good game against a putrid side.

He's always where the ball ain't.

I don't believe so. But there's people here who would actually know.

Have you guys thought that the “WC are keen on CDT” may be the double bluff?

He’s probably one, with one of the highest ceilings in the draft- that might attract bidders in the top 5 in particular. So by declaring our hand, perhaps clumsily early- you might see a club look to trade up. Richmond, in particular.

I think we are going all out to get as much at the top end as possible, which then might give us some leverage to get into next years draft or trade capital. Even if this draft is full of role players over stars, we’re in need of them too.

I don’t mind it, even if my preference is to keep 1 & (the likely) 2.

Maybe, but tbh, if CDT was okay to come west I think we would be into him. WCE has always been keen on rucks and talls and I don't think we would shy away from using pick 1 on a ruck if we thought he was available. Ruck is arguably the biggest need on our list.
