Is the wing a area which we simply need to get a senior body in no matter what?

Id be in Lachie Sholls ear myself. Good disposer and runs hard. Will end the Hutchinson experiment once and for all
Wasnt there some talk of Acres the other day 🤔

Hes not in Carltons best 22 rn, would be cheap

Gives us a couple years to draft an alternative

I honestly think that for the wing it's not really worth getting a senior guy. You can draft one pretty easily with a top 15 pick and expect to get similar output almost immediately.

Xavier Lindsay for example this year probably matches Acres output. Ironically I would back Josh Lindsay to have similar impact next year if we were to find a pick for him.

We need to put this idea of bringing in average senior players to bed, they just clog the list e.g owies.

I think it's been as tight as ever when it comes down to midfield talent identification. There's probably never going to be a jet sitting there in the PSA under the radar like Daniel Kerr at pick 18 in the 2000 draft.
So it's top end or good luck. We lack that elite talent, slick hands, first decision is best type mid which are almost always top 5 these days. Harley, gun. Next? Imagine Harley coming into the team like Kerr and Judd did when we were shithouse with Cousins already there. Instead we've got Yeo and Kelly

I agree not a huge need to find a mature winger, but we do need a mature inside or balanced midfielder just to be a role player at least, and add depth to our midfield.

I'd trade Ryan if his agent finds him a spot. Bring in another late first round pick if that's all there is. We have to clear cap space to throw some big money around for decent midfielders.

Would work perfectly in making the team even more shit. Just what we need, another pick with a 50/50 or less chance of becoming half the player Ryan is in about 4 years time.

Ryan won't get a 1st he's a 2nd at best and Id take it.

That or a trade... Ryan to Norf for Powell 😉

NRL tackling coach for tackling
Get Simon Black over as skills coach
Get Cuzzy and Robert Harvey in as repeat effort/long distance running coaches
Get Lecca and JK down there as forward coaches/goal kicking coaches
Get NicNat as ruck coach
Get Schwarzenegger as strength coach

"oh well had a 20 minute run then came in for a debrief"

Look at our trade history for bigger mids who impacted. Jack Redden for pick 17. Stenglein for picks 12 and 28. (We got 29 back for trading Paul Johnson in that draft). Big bodied mids who had big impacts in their careers. I understand those trades were in Premiership build mode but where are those sorts of trades now? Have our balls shrunk after the TK debacle?

Name some players.

Stenglein was joining an up and coming side, Redden was joining a premiership contender.

Which ones should we be spending good draft capital to get? Try to be slightly realistic too

Yeah who knows.

I honestly think Nick Daicos would look shit playing for us

He would. Its amazing Harley can look as good as he does in our midfield.
Very few mids in the entire comp would look that good in our midfield, its GAJ at GCS early days type of stuff hes gotta try to do.
He needs to be judged on what he's doing in amongst all this and if they do he should be AA short-list but he won't coz he rubs people the wrong way

Lindsay been sub majority of games recently as he tired out. Id say he is proof we need a winger as opposed to the opposite

Problem with the wing is it feels like we dont eve have 1 at all. It isnt a case of drafting Lindsay and thats ok. 2 wings exist and we have zero wingers to start with. Id like Bo Allan on 1 wing next season but then who plays the other? Id rather just fill it with anything but Jack Hutchinson at this point and in doing so get a actual winger in at the same time

going to be some melts again this offseason as the club trades picks to try and bring in some players who can actually make a difference between the half forward and half back lines.

Committing to drafting top talent would mean committing to the same old crew unwilling or unable to win a contested ball for another 12 months which the executive won’t tolerate.

Means we’ll be seeing more of our elite talent identification and trade negotiating teams in action come year end which should send shivers up the spine of any supporter.

Gonna flip out at the next kent who says list spots are tight.

We have the cap space, pay out these soft pretenders and move the **** on.
It kind of feels a bit to me that we would all like to suggest better changes but know we would never have the courage to do it so whats the point

This entire thread would change if for example we knew Pyke would get a ounce of courage to ensure we get priority pick assistance... but we know it wont happen :(

Lets be honest. After last night I would expect those previously in the No Darcy Cameron please square probably changed their minds as Nankervis took a uncontested mark in the goal square while Flynn trailed 25m behind
